Abbey House Hotel & Gardens

Abbey Road, Furness Abbey, Barrow-in-Furness, LA13 0PA
Abbey House Hotel & Gardens Outside

Before it was a luxury hotel, Abbey House was the private residence of Commander Charles Worthington Craven, Chairman of Vickers-Armstrong, a British engineering firm. The house has hosted numerous dignitaries in the past, including Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, and King George V when he was Prince of Wales.

Today, Abbey House retains much of the level of sophistication and luxury required by the Royal Family, offering pleasant and comfortable accommodation with excellent service. The hotel is on the northern outskirts of Barrow-In-Furness, and takes its name from Furness Abbey, an expansive former monastery that now lies in ruin and is less than a mile from the hotel. Other nearby attractions include the South Lakes Safari Zoo and the pretty market town of Ulverston.
