Lodore Falls Hotel Outside

The Lodore Falls are so spectacular, that Romantic poet, Robert Southey, once wrote an extraordinary poem that beautifully captured the roaring sound of the waterfalls in words. It helped to popularise this small area of the Lake District amongst his Victorian peers. The hotel that sits in front of the falls has been providing visitors with spectacular views of the cascade for over 200 years, and is one of the area’s more luxurious places to stay.

It is set to become even better, with an extension currently underway that will open in 2018, featuring a brand new spa with a thermal suite, 18 additional luxury rooms, a new restaurant, and a Champagne and deli bar.

Restaurants & Bars

The Lake View restaurant serves lunch and evening meals. A set menu is available in the evenings and it changes with the seasons, with a strong emphasis on locally sourced produce. On Sundays, a full three-course Sunday lunch is available. The restaurant has a strict dress code that includes no walking boots or trainers.

The Lake View Lounge and Terrace is a more casual affair and serves food daily until 5pm. You can enjoy a light lunch here or something more substantial. Afternoon tea is also served here, and in the evenings, you can relax with a cocktail.

In 2018, a new restaurant will open at the hotel as part of its extension. There will be an open kitchen, and a large terrace overlooking the river for a delightful al fresco dining experience. In the spa, a new Champagne and Deli bar will open, serving light refreshments.

The centre is also available for weddings with up to 120 guests able to attend. The hotel has a civil wedding licence, and a delightful garden gazebo that can also be used for the ceremony.

In 2018, the new spa will open in its own purpose built building. The spa will feature five treatment rooms with a full range of treatments available, including mud rasul rituals.
