Stonecross Manor Hotel

Stonecross Manor Hotel Outside

The Stonecross Manor has a sad history. The manor house was built in 1857 originally to serve as an orphanage to house some of the many unfortunate children that required shelter in the Victorian era. Thankfully, a need for such a large orphanage has now passed, and today, Stonecross Manor welcomes residents of a different kind, providing hotel accommodation complete with a small leisure complex.

At the start of 2017, Stonecross Manor was purchased by H&M hotels who already run successful hotels in the North Wales area. An extensive refurbishment programme is currently ongoing, and guests are advised to check in advance if any of these works could impact your stay. The hotel is located on the southwestern edge of Kendal with the town centre easily accessible via a 15-minute walk. Kendal grazes the border of two national parks, being on the edge of both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, making it an ideal base for those wishing to explore some of northern England’s finest uplands. Lake Windermere is approximately 20-minutes by car.

Restaurants & Bars

The Woodland Bar & Kitchen will be Stonecross Manor’s exciting new restaurant once the refurbishment works have been completed, serving a tempting array of brasserie style dishes using locally sourced produce. In the meantime, guests can enjoy a fine dining experience in one of the hotel’s function suites that has been temporarily repurposed as a restaurant. Here guests can enjoy classic dishes that use the best of Cumbrian produce.

Lunch, afternoon tea, and evening meals are available. Breakfast is available for an additional fee for hotel guests, and guests can choose between hot and cold items. As with the restaurant, the bar has been temporarily relocated to a function suite during the refurbishment works, but a full range of alcoholic drinks is available.

Additional Facilities & Services

The hotel has a number of function suites that are available to hire for weddings and other private parties. The hotel has a civil wedding licence and packages that include food, entertainment, and accommodation are available.

The first stage of the refurbishment programme included a full overhaul of the hotel’s spa facilities. Housed in a bright room that has been designed to create a calm ambience, you will find a small pool fitted with massage jets, a separate hot tub, and an aromatic steam room.
