Gym

Copeland Pool & Fitness Centre Gym

The gym is a fairly recent addition to the centre, which was added in 2014 following a complete refurbishment and extension of the facility. It is equipped with a range of Life Fitness, Synergy and TRX machines, with the emphasis being on fitness rather than weight training, though there are a limited number of weight lifting machines and free weights. Some of the cardiovascular machines are also fitted with personal entertainment systems, so you can watch TV whilst you workout.

The centre has teamed up with local personal trainer James Pittam, who offers a team of personal trainers based in the fitness suite. You can get a free taster session to start, and then a personal plan will be developed for you.

You don’t need to have full membership to use the gym, but you do need to sign up to be a pay and play member, where you pay a small initial administration fee, and then use the gym on a pay as you go basis.

Fitness Classes

In addition to a new gym, a fitness studio was added during the refurbishment. Classes are held every day, and include core stability training, circuits, total body conditioning, boxfit, spinning, and aerobics. You can sign up to classes on a one-off basis but you must book in advance to be guaranteed a space. A 30-minute class costs £3.55 for non members, rising to £5.15 for a 60-minute class.

Swimming Pools

Copeland Pool & Fitness Centre Pool

There are two swimming pools at Copeland Pool and Fitness Centre. The main pool is 25m long and has six lanes. In the same hall there is a learner pool, which is 0.8m deep at the deeper end.

The pool has timetabled sessions each day, so it’s important to check in advance of your visit to ensure you won’t be turned away. Sessions include general swimming, fitness swimming, lane swimming, aquacise classes, and swimming lessons.

Features for Kids

The swimming pool holds regular timetabled sessions that are suitable for children, including babies. These include infant and toddler swim sessions and swimming lessons for both pre-schoolers and school aged children. The learner pool is designed to be appealing to children, with colourful displays and floats.

During the school holidays there are regular sessions that include the use of a giant inflatable that sits on the pool. Resembling a bouncy castle, it is a great way for children to burn off energy. Both pools can be hired for birthday parties.
