The Churchill Inn

If you are looking for accommodation in Ambleside with lively evening entertainment at budget rates then the Churchill Inn is certainly one to consider. This traditional pub is home to 16 rooms above a popular bar and restaurant. Located in the centre of Ambleside amongst the shops, restaurants, and cafés the inn hosts regular live music, quizzes, and karaoke events. Therefore guests should be prepared for fairly loud noise late into the evenings, especially at weekends.
This accommodation would best suit young couples or groups who are looking to explore the Lake District on a budget. The pub is a 15-minute walk from the northern shore of Lake Windermere where you will find a jetty for the Windermere Lakes Cruises. From here, you can catch a boat to visit numerous attractions around the lake, including Brockhole, Wray Castle, and the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway.

Accommodation
There are three types of room available at the Churchill Inn, and all rooms are decorated in a simple, modern style with basic furnishings. It’s worth noting that there is no lift in the building and rooms are spread over three floors. All rooms are fitted with an en-suite facility, either with a bath or shower, and all rooms include LCD televisions with digital channels, free Wi-Fi, and tea and coffee making facilities. In addition to Classic Double rooms, the inn has Classic Double View rooms with views of the fells, and Superior rooms that have more space, a king sized bed, and large televisions.

Restaurants & Bars
For overnight guests of the Churchill Inn, a full English breakfast is available each morning, as well as lighter options and cereals. The inn has a grill restaurant that serves all the usual pub classics, such as steak and ale pie and burgers, as well as more contemporary favourites such as curries. There is a separate children’s menu and the dishes use locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.
The Churchill has two bars. Winston’s is the livelier of the two and hosts regular live sports on a large television, as well as live music and other events. Monty’s is quieter, and is equipped with pub games. Both bars serve a great selection of beers, wines, and spirits, alongside hot drinks and snacks.
