June is when the weather finally improves, so summer events in the Lake District really start to kick off, as people flock to the area on holiday. There are some fantastic beer festivals taking place, such as the ones in Boot & Keswick, classic car shows, and also the return of the country shows with the Cumberland Show & Westmorland Country Agricultural Society Country Fest kick-starting the season.

The World of Beatrix Potter is putting on a picnic with Peter Rabbit himself where you can enjoy entry to the attraction, a picnic afternoon tea, a photo opportunity with Peter Rabbit, as well as a gift, balloon and bunny ears for every child in attendance. The cost is £25 for adults and £20 for children and will take place on the 31st of May and the 1st of June.

The Lakes Classic Vehicle Show is taking place on Sunday the 18th of June at the Staveley Recreation Ground, in between Windermere and Kendal. There will be 175 classic vehicles on display and is perfect for all the car enthusiasts out there.

The famous Cumberland Show is back on Saturday the 10th of June, which kicks off a summer’s worth of country shows here in the Lake District. There will be a craft marquee, food hall, animals on display, games, rides, activities, and so much more!

The Woolpack Inn in conjunction with the King George IV Inn and the Brook House Inn are throwing their annual Boot Beer Festival from the 8th to the 11th of June. There will be a fantastic selection of beer, live music and delicious food on offer.

Medieval Muncaster is still taking place up until the 4th of June, which includes the following:

  1. Muncaster Birds, Play Areas & Gardens – This includes Muncaster Castle’s bird shows and access to the play area and gardens.
  2. Laugh like a Fool – Watch one of their fool shows for a laugh and check out the festival of foods with a medieval theme.
  3. The Storming of the Castle – Children will be assembled at the bottom of the bank, will hear a war speech and race to the top!
  4. Feast Like a King – Local food vendors, as well as the café, will offer a good selection of food.
  5. Muncaster Tavern – This is a bar with live music, which will take place on selected days.

Lowther Castle is still host to a host of golden daffodils until the 24th of June – only these daffodils are handmade out of clay and are in aid of many worthy charities in the local area. You can purchase a clay daffodil, which will be posted to you after the display and you can read more about the wonderful project here.

May Mayhem at Walby Farm Park

I know what you’re thinking: ‘Why are they including something for May in June?’ Well, the Walby Farm Park is having their ‘May Mayhem’, which goes right up until 4 June for half-term, so technically we aren’t wrong. The half-term event includes all the usual farm fun and then some with indoor and outdoor play, as well as interaction with animals on the farm, fun and games.

Lakeland Arts: Broad Leys & Blackwell Tours

Lakeland Arts are putting on two tours of Broad Leys & Blackwell in the month of June on the 1st and the 22nd. The tour begins at 1.30pm at Broad Leys and carries onto Blackwell, which is just a mile down the road. Toward the end of the tour, there will be a cream tea served in the Tea Room and the cost is just £25 per person.
