Muncaster Castle is hosting May Fest between Saturday 30th April and Monday 2nd May with a Roman theme. Entertainment includes walkabout performances, storytelling, food and crafts stalls, and a visit from Emperor Hadrian each day at 3pm.

The Strands Inn & Brewery: Beer Festival

The Strands Inn & Brewery is scheduled to host their famous beer festival on the May bank holiday between Friday the 6th and Sunday the 8th of May. They say it will definitely be a sell-out event, so you'll want to book your tickets in advance to avoid missing out. The festival will feature a collection of specialty beers, which were brewed specifically for their annual May festival.

Holker Hall: Spring Fair

Holker Hall will be host to Spring Fair on Saturday May the 7th and Sunday May the 8th from 10.30am to 5pm each day. The event brings together a selection of home, food, garden and gift exhibitors set in the courtyard and piazza of the beautiful Holker Hall. In addition, there will be the return of the Fun Dog Show with a little mini agility course for your pups to have a go. Advanced tickets are now on sale and cost just £6.50 for adults with under 12s being free with tickets at the gate being more expensive. Dogs are, of course, welcome on leads!

Also taking place at Holker Hall are two Outdoor Yoga & Brunch opportunities on Saturday the 14th of May, as well as Saturday the 25th of May. The events, of course, includes a yoga session followed by brunch and takes place from 9am to 12 noon with Carly from Lakes Yoga on the beautiful Holker Hall grounds. The brunch will have vegetarian options, including pancakes, fruit & yoghurt, poached eggs on toast with smashed avocado with coffee, tea and juices. Tickets cost £35 and should be purchased in advance.

The Dalemain Estate: Fell Ponies Show & Marmalade Festival

The Dalemain Estate are hosting two events on Saturday 14th May. The first is a fell pony stallion show, which celebrates one of Cumbria's most treasured animals. The second is a Marmalade Festival, for which the estate is famous for, where people from all over can enter into a marmalade competition to see who makes it best. It will feature all things marmalade with children's activities and plenty of family friendly fun. The marmalade event will be in aid of local charity, Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland, and tickets start from £6.50 for adults.

The Keswick Mountain Festival is back in 2022 and scheduled to take place between the 20th and 22nd this May. The festival is focused on a love for all things outdoors with challenges available for swimming, hiking, running, and triathlon with other outdoor challenges and competitions in place. There are also guided activities, tent talks, a music festival, and a festival village for food and drinks. Pitch Up Music Festival is taking place on Saturday the 21st of May from 12pm to 12am at the Dunes Hotel Stadium on Holker Street with tickets costing £33. The event is only offered for those 18 and over, so unfortunately, no kiddos will be allowed to attend. The lineup includes Tom Zanetti, Bad Boy Chiller Crew and Lowes – just to name a few!

St John's Hospice is throwing an event called Woofs and Wellies on May 22nd from 9.30am to 1.30pm for you and your beloved pups. The day includes a group walk through Low Sizergh Barn (starting at 10am), a photoshoot with Olive Paw Photography, a doggy goodie bag, a fancy dress competition, bandanas for sale and a doggy beauty contest (though, we all know that our pup is the most beautiful, of course!). Adult humans cost just £5, small humans are £3 and dogs are the free guests of honour! The money raised will go to the amazing St John's Hospice, which is a local charity offering free palliative care to those in need. A pawsitively fun way to help out a wonderful charity!

Country Fest is back after a two-year hiatus this May 2022 and scheduled to take place on Saturday 28th May and Sunday 29th May at the Westmorland County Showground, Crooklands. There will be kite displays, arena demonstrations, marquees, a car show, a military vehicle display, a vintage emporium, food and drink stands, and more. Tickets are just £11 for adults, £3 for children with family tickets and early bird pricing also available. The event runs from 10am to 5pm on the Saturday and 10am to 4pm on the Sunday. A wonderful family friendly day out!

There will be food and drinks stalls and bird displays and it costs around £20 for adults and £10 for children, which also includes your admission to the castle and gardens.
