Hutton-in-the-Forest is having a foraging course on Sunday, 5 May from 12 to 3.30pm and will involve foraging for food with a meal at the end. The cost is £60 for adults and £30 for under 16s. Under 12s may attend for free. Also at Hutton-the-Forest in the month of May will be the Plant & Food Fair on Sunday 12 May. Keep an eye on their website for further details.

Green Man Survival: Two-Day Wilderness Survival & Bushcraft Course

Green Man Survival puts on various survival training courses each year with one taking place at the beginning of May from the 4th to the 5th. The two-day course will teach you how to be self-sufficient alone in the wild, teaching you basic survival skills, such as how to make a shelter, build a fire, where to find safe drinking water, how to forage for food, how to signal for help, which tools to bring and how to use them, as well as basic first aid tips. Best to book well advance to avoid disappointment.

You can also sign up to join a series of sporting competitions, including hiking, swimming, running, cycling, a triathlon, and more. There is also the opportunity to camp… or glamp should you prefer your home comforts. It’s the perfect weekend for those who love the outdoors, sports, and festivals!
