Events are really starting to take off in the Lake District with plenty of activities happening in the Lake District this May, including the ever popular Keswick Mountain Festival.

Hutton-in-the-Forest: Foraging Course + Plant & Food Fair
Hutton-in-the-Forest is having a foraging course on Sunday, 5 May from 12 to 3.30pm and will involve foraging for food with a meal at the end. The cost is £60 for adults and £30 for under 16s. Under 12s may attend for free. Also at Hutton-the-Forest in the month of May will be the Plant & Food Fair on Sunday 12 May. Keep an eye on their website for further details.
Green Man Survival: Two-Day Wilderness Survival & Bushcraft Course
Green Man Survival puts on various survival training courses each year with one taking place at the beginning of May from the 4th to the 5th. The two-day course will teach you how to be self-sufficient alone in the wild, teaching you basic survival skills, such as how to make a shelter, build a fire, where to find safe drinking water, how to forage for food, how to signal for help, which tools to bring and how to use them, as well as basic first aid tips. Best to book well advance to avoid disappointment.
Kirkby Longby Beer & Music Festival
The Kirkby Lonsdale Beer & Music Festival will be taking place on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th of May at Kirkby Lonsdale RUFC, LA6 2DS and will include a line-up of live music and selection of beers. It is free to enter the event.
Keswick Mountain Festival
The famous annual Keswick Mountain Festival will be taking place from the 17th to the 19th of May and includes adventure activities, market stalls, live music, food & drinks, as well as an array of guided activities that includes everything from beer tasting to stand-up paddle yoga. You can also sign up to join a series of sporting competitions, including hiking, swimming, running, cycling, a triathlon, and more. There is also the opportunity to camp… or glamp should you prefer your home comforts. It’s the perfect weekend for those who love the outdoors, sports, and festivals!
May at Muncaster
Muncaster Castle is hosting a series of events in May, including:
- Sausage Festival: 4-6 May Celebrating all things sausages
- Crafted in Cumbria: 4-6 May Craft market stalls at the Sausage Festival featuring local handcrafted goods
- Dragcaster: 4 May An evening of drag performances, games & activities, a disco, and a bar & food; For 18 years and over only
- Medieval Muncaster: 25 May-2 June Medieval merriment and activities at the castle
