The Lutwidge Arms (Holmrook)
The Lutwidge Arms is a large, family run pub on the western fringes of the Lake District in Holmrook. The pub benefits from a spacious, modern bar that is a delightful place to unwind in the evenings after a long day exploring the western fells, as well as a separate, sophisticated restaurant area housed in an orangery with fabulous views of the surrounding countryside. The pub is superbly located for those wishing to explore either Eskdale or Wasdale and it offers overnight accommodation.
Food & Drink
It’s worth noting that the bar and restaurant are only open in the evenings. Locally brewed real ale is available here, sourced from a range of Cumbrian breweries, including Jennings in Cockermouth and Bowness Bay Brewing in Windermere. There is a respectable wine list with around a dozen varieties that covers all the basics, including Rioja and Chenin. The bar also stocks a selection of local spirits, such as whisky and gin from the Bassenthwaite based Lakes Distillery, as well as an extensive selection of gins from around the world.
Food is only available in the evenings and the menu changes regularly with the seasons. You can eat in the bar or in the restaurant and you can expect a more sophisticated dining experience than you might find in other pubs. There’s an internationally inspired menu that features British favourites such as Cumbrian steak, as well as those from further afield such as Latvian Chicken.
Other Features
There is a large garden outside with a raised, decked seating area. In the back bar, there is a pool table and darts board. Dogs are not permitted anywhere in the Lutwidge Arms.
