Most people visit the Lake District for its wonderful scenery with dramatic fells and crystal clear lakes. Sadly, however, the area is also one of the wettest in the UK and, therefore, it’s very likely that during your stay you will have at least one rainy day.
Indoor attractions for the whole family are extremely valuable on those days, and The Puzzling Place is just one of them. A vision of two brothers who wanted to create an intriguing attraction with a relaxed atmosphere, the Puzzling Place is brimming with illusions and brain teasers, and is a great way of whiling away a couple of hours.

Things To See
An example of an optical illusion
Entrance to the Puzzle Area and shop are free. Here you will find a selection of puzzles and brainteasers that will both delight and frustrate you as you attempt to solve them. The "World of Illusion" is a ticketed space and in here the magic really does begin.
Your perception skills will be tested to the maximum in the Anti-Gravity Room, where you can appear to others to be slanting whilst standing with your feet firmly flat on the ground and balls seem to roll up hill.
In the Ames Room you will wonder why your child appears to be several feet taller than you, whilst the Hologram Gallery is filled with fascinated artwork in holographic form. There are also over 50 optical illusions that will confuse and amaze you.
Useful Information
There is a shop where you can purchase a great range of puzzles and curiosities. There is no café on site although being in the centre of Keswick this is not a problem as the town is brimming with great places to eat.
Dogs are welcome in the Puzzling Place and must be kept on a lead.
The Puzzling Place is located on the first floor of a building and is only accessible by a flight of stairs. There are no public toilets in the attraction, but there are some close by.
