Barngates Brewery

Probably one of the best kept secrets when it comes to breweries in the Lake District, the Barngates Brewery is tucked behind the celebrated gastro pub, the Drunken Duck, in Ambleside.
The beers are named after former pets that inhabited the inn and, as well as providing ale to the Drunken Duck, the brewery supplies a few other pubs in the area. In addition, recent growth has resulted in the brewery supplying bottled beers to northern supermarket chain Booths.

About Barngates Brewery
The brewery was established in 1997 as an experimental venture for the owners of the Drunken Duck Inn, producing just one barrel at a time. Demand quickly grew and in 1999 the brewery was expanded to produce 5 barrels, and then again in 2008 when it was upgraded to a 10 barrel plant. The brewery continues to supply the Drunken Duck Inn, along with around 80 other pubs in the area on a guest brewery basis.
