A short distance from the reservoir that lends the brewery its name, the Ennerdale Brewery was born out of a casual conversation amongst a handful of colleagues at Sellafield.

Today it produces a wide range of cask and bottled ales that use water from the Ennerdale valley. The brewery is also home a fantastic café where you can try a beer, or a delicious homemade cake.

The brewery was established in 2007, initially as the Whitehaven Brewing Company, brewing in a barn in Ennerdale. Unfortunately, the initial business encountered a number of difficulties but from that the Ennerdale Brewery was established in 2010 and their first ever beer was the Ennerdale Blonde.

As the brewery grew, a larger premises was required and in 2015 they left the farm to a new building in Rowrah, a village on the edge of the western Lake District. Today they supply beer to pubs all over Cumbria whilst bottled versions of their beers can be found in numerous shops in the area.
