The village of Grasmere is the perfect embodiment of a quintessentially sweet and historical Lake District village. Notable for its famous residents, including many famous Lake District poets, the area was described by William Wordsworth, as "the loveliest spot that man hath ever found", and as a result, is extremely popular with visitors for good reason.
Here you will find William Wordsworth's former home, Dove Cottage, as well as the all famous Grasmere Gingerbread – a secret recipe invented by the queen of gingerbread, Sarah Nelson. There are also tons of tea shops, cafes, and country shops all in encased by picturesque fells and, of course, Grasmere – one of the smaller lakes in the area, however, also one of the most picturesque.
