The hotel has recently undertaken a multi-million pound refurbishment programme and the result is the creation of a beautiful and sophisticated hotel that is brimming with elegance.

Restaurants & Bars

The Hotel’s Garden Restaurant has consistently been awarded with two AA rosettes, and its floor-to-ceiling windows with views over the gardens create a light and airy dining space where you will want to enjoy your meal at a leisurely pace.

Breakfast is available each morning between 8am and 10am and guests can choose a selection of cold dishes from the buffet, including cereals and fresh fruits. Cooked options are available, including a hearty Cumbrian breakfast aimed at fell walkers, as well as a vegetarian grill and other smaller options.

Light lunches and snacks are available. The evening menu changes regularly and the chefs are keen to showcase the best of Lake District produce, so you can expect to find Cumbrian lamb, salmon, and seasonal produce on the menu, with a focus on modern British and European flavours. The restaurant also benefits from a bar and has an extensive wine cellar with around 200 varieties available from around the world.

Additional Facilities & Services

Overlooking the river Rothay, the hotel’s spa connects the natural world outside with the luxury experience inside. Hotel guests can admire the fell views whilst relaxing on a heated infra-red sun lounger. The spa’s centrepiece is the HydroSpa that overlooks the river. It’s essentially a large hot tub with multiple jets that can massage the body, with the water is kept at a constant 38 degrees. In addition, the spa features a Herbal Pine Sauna with a glass front overlooking the garden, and an Aroma Room with essential fragrances that will leave you feeling at ease, as well as two monsoon showers.

The spa does not have dedicated treatment rooms. Instead, the hotel has a team of local therapists available who can come to your hotel room to provide a range of massage treatments, as well as sports physiotherapy.

The hotel has one accessible room on the ground floor that is DDA compliant. The hotel isn’t particularly family friendly, but children over the age of five are permitted to stay for an additional charge. Dogs are permitted in some rooms, again for an additional charge.
