The Traveller’s Rest is a charming and atmospheric 16th century coaching inn on the edge of Grasmere, set back from the A591. As well as capturing a roaring trade from those travelling between Keswick and Ambleside, this inn has a collection of comfortable rooms that are brimming with period charm. Inside you will find oak beams, cosy corners, and roaring fires, whilst outside there is delightful beer garden and easy access to several walking routes, including the Fairfield Horseshoe.

The Traveller’s Rest is a lively pub that is a popular spot for visitors passing through on the A591 to grab a bite to eat. Guests staying at the pub can enjoy breakfast for an additional charge. The pub’s restaurant serves food from noon until 9.30pm seven days a week and booking a table is highly recommended, especially during peak periods.

Sandwiches and other light bites are available before 5pm, and the evening menu offers a good mixture of classic pub dishes along with more sophisticated plates such as scallops or chickpea tagine. The traditional bar serves up a wide choice of locally brewed real ales along with a fine selection of wines, malt whiskies, and gins.
