The Bay Horse Hotel & Restaurant Outside

Location, location, location. At the Bay Horse Hotel & Restaurant the location is unrivalled, overlooking the magnificent, yet deadly Morecambe Bay sands. This hotel was once a 17th century coaching inn. It was here that brave travellers would take a final break before making the terrifying journey across the Morecambe Bay sands in their horse-drawn carriages, heading towards Lancaster. Today, the bay remains just as treacherous to those who are careless enough to ignore the warning signs and venture beyond the point of safety. The Bay Horse, however, has been modernised to suit the 21st century traveller with comfortable en-suite accommodation and delicious food.

The Bay Horse Hotel is located on the eastern coast of the Furness Peninsula, and is less than a ten-minute drive from the centre of the historic market town of Ulverston. A trip to Lake Windermere will take around 20-minutes in the car, with Coniston Water just slightly further at 30-minutes. Nearby attractions include the South Lakes Safari Zoo, Grizedale Forest, and the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway.
