Lakeside House

Lakeside House in Keswick is one of the most sought after bed and breakfast style accommodations in the area, which should give you a clue as to how good it is. It has been rated as excellent by numerous travel agencies, and it is regularly booked up well in advance.

This large family-run B&B is located on the edge of Hope Park in Cockermouth, which leads down to Derwent Water. It is a few minutes’ walk from the B&B to Keswick’s shops and attractions. Nearby popular walking routes include Cat Bells, Castle Crag, and Skiddaw.

Accommodation

There are 14 rooms available at the Lakeside House, many of which overlook Hope Park or have views of Skiddaw and the other surrounding fells. All of the rooms have been recently refurbished to a very high standard, with furniture and textiles sourced from some of the leading designers in the UK. As standard, all rooms are fitted with en-suite bathrooms with showers (some also have baths) and complimentary locally produced luxury toiletries. In addition, all rooms include large flat screen televisions with digital free view channels and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Many rooms have original period features, such as bay windows and high ceilings. A hospitality tray is also included. Along with standard single, double, and twin rooms, there is a selection of superior rooms that include additional features (these vary according to the room), such as a comfortable seating area, fridge, king-sized bed, or even binoculars for spotting birds flying above the fells.

Restaurants & Bars

There is no restaurant at the Lakeside House, but there are a plethora of eateries in Keswick, including cafes, pubs, and a range of restaurants to suit all tastes.

For guests, a full breakfast is served each morning in the breakfast room where guests can sit and watch the world go by out of the large windows at the front of the property. A self-service breakfast bar is stocked with fruit, cereals, juices, teas, coffees and more. In addition, guests can order cooked items from an extensive menu that includes options for those with special dietary requirements.

Lakeside House has a large drying room in its basement that can be used for drying out muddy boots, waterproofs, etc.
