April is the month when events really start to pick up in the Lake District, especially with Easter weekend taking place from the 7th through the 10th. There are plenty of egg hunts and Easter craft sessions for the kids, but also a couple of beer festivals and the launch of Ten Thousand Daffodils at Lowther Castle.

Muncaster Castle will be throwing an Easter event in the month of April from the 7th until the 10th. The event will include egg hunts, spring trails, food, puzzles and more! Be sure to book your tickets in advance online!

Beetham Nurseries is "egg-static" to announce their Hetty the Hen Easter Event on Friday the 7th of April, offering a "cracking" line-up of Easter actitivies, including an Easter egg hunt, live readings and illustrations, an Easter colouring event and much more. Theatre by the Lake: Around the World in 80 Days

The Theatre by the Lake will be putting on the show, Around the World in 80 Days, based on the novel by Jules Verne from the 31st of March until the 29th of April. Tickets are from £10 and the show is suitable for those over the age of 6 years old.
Hutton-in-the-Forest Re-Opens & Foraging Class

Hutton-in-the-Forest re-opens on Sunday the 2nd of April for tours of the house and gardens. Additionally, there is a wild foraging class taking place at the venue on Sunday the 16th of April between 12pm and 3.30pm. The class will teach you what to look out for when foraging and how to create a meal with what you’ve foraged. You can book a place on the class via Wild Food UK.
The Golden Bunny Easter Egg Hunt at Brockhole

Brockhole has hidden a Golden Bunny somewhere on their grounds and is hoping you can help them find it! From Saturday the 1st of April through to Sunday the 16th of April, the centre will be hosting their Golden Bunny Easter Egg Hunt. You can pick up a trail sheet from the gift shop to get hunting and, if you take a selfie with the Golden Bunny, you’ll be able to claim a prize. Other activities at Brockhole include craft sessions and loads of outdoor activities, such as go karts and boat hire. Brockhole also has a lovely café and playground, so it makes for a fun day out!
Easter Eggstravaganza on Walby Farm Park

Walby Farm Park is hosting an Easter Eggstravaganza from the 1st to the 16th of April with egg hunts, a Chocolatiers’ Kitchen where kids can decorate an Easter treat, Lambing Live in the barn and the opportunity to meet baby lambs. There is also the usual farm fun taking place like pony grooming, go-karts, sand pits, meeting rabbits and guinea pigs, and much more. You can book your tickets online now.
Spring Wreath Workshop at the Beacon Museum

The Beacon Museum is putting on a Spring Wreath Workshop where you can make a gorgeous spring wreath with the help of a professional florist. This activity is meant for those 16 and older and costs £57.50, which includes all the supplies you need to make a wreath, as well as a glass of fizz (or coffee/tea) and a treat. The only thing you need to bring with you is a pair of secateurs. Book a place now to avoid disappointment.
The Dalemain World Marmalade Festival

The annual Dalemain World Marmalade Festival will be taking place on Saturday the 22nd of April from 10am to 4pm where the winner of 2023’s best marmalade will be announced. At the festival, you’ll get to sample and buy some of this year’s marmalades made by competitors and also meet the bear who loves marmalade – Paddington! Additionally, the tea room will be open, which houses a selection of 1000 marmalades and there is also a classic car display in the park.
Taste Cumbria Wigton

Taste Cumbria Wigton will be taking place on Saturday 22nd April, 2023. The food festival will include a market with local produce, an outdoor picnic area with live music, hot food stalls, as well as fairground rides and other activities.
Woolpack Inn’s Cider & Sausage Weekend

The Woolpack Inn will be having their annual Cider & Sausage weekend from Friday the 21st to Sunday the 22nd of April. The festival will include over 40 different types of cider and also 20 flavours of sausages. The event will also host live music.
Kirkby Lonsdale Beer & Music Festival

Ten Thousand Daffodils Art Display at Lowther Castle

We touched on the Ten Thousand Daffodils project in our March What’s On guide, but from the 24th of April until the 24th of June you can actually go see the display of all the ceramic daffodils at Lowther Castle. The project is aiming to raise money for six different charities with locals volunteering to make and paint the ceramic daffodils, which are then sold off to the public to raise the funds for charity. You can reserve your daffodil online, which will later be shipped to you after the display has come to an end. This will an absolutely incredible thing to see, so definitely come check it out if you’re in the area!
Keswick Choral Society Spring Concert

The Keswick Choral Society is putting on a spring concert on Saturday the 22nd of April at 7.30pm at St John's Church in Keswick. You can pre-order your tickets online for £12 or, alternatively, they are £15 on the door.
Forge Festival

The Forge Festival involves a pop-up display of dance and live theatre performances at the Windermere Jetty Museum, involving both youth performance companies, as well as professional artists. The event is taking place on Saturday, 29 April and Sunday, 30 April and costs £9 for adults, £7 for students, £4.50 for children aged 5-16 years, and is free for children 4 and under, as well as for Lakeland Art members.
