The Brackenrigg Inn Pub

The Brewery

The Brackenrigg Inn has its own brewery that began brewing in 2015 in a converted former stable block behind the inn. Brack’N’Brew creates five different ales, all given names with local references, such as Steamer Snout and the Aira Force IPA. All five ales are available from the bar, along with a selection of guest ales. Visitors can also purchase bottled ale to take away with them.

The bar has a range of draught lagers and ciders, and wine lovers are well served here with over 25 varieties to choose from, including an Argentinian Malbec and a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. The bar also stocks a good selection of gins and whiskies, including several that are from local distilleries. Soft drinks and hot drinks are also available here.

Food

Food is served all day, every day, from noon until 9pm (8pm on Sundays during the winter). The food here is locally sourced wherever possible and booking a table is highly recommended. The menu has something to suit most tastes and appetites. There are hot and cold sandwiches, including fishfingers made with the brewery’s ale served in a bread roll, and platters for those who like to share a few nibbles.

The main menu has some mouth-watering classic pub dishes, including a four-hour braised steak and ale pie, made with proper shortcrust pastry. Chef’s specials are available after 4pm and change according to seasonal availability, offering more imaginative choices. Tapas is available on Friday evenings with a choice of three dishes and a pint for a set price. There are options for vegetarians and the children’s menu has a good number of dishes to choose from. A traditional roast dinner is served each Sunday from noon until 2.30pm, with beef and one other meat choice.
