The large bar at the Herdwick Inn has a wide selection of drinks available. There are cask ales, usually sourced from local breweries, as well as several beers and ciders on draught. There is a respectable choice of wines and the inn has a particularly impressive collection of gins to choose from. You will also find the usual choice of spirits and soft drinks here.
One of the new owners of the Herdwick Inn is a professional chef with several years of experience, so you can expect the food here to be of a good standard. The menu has a good mixture of pub favourites and contemporary British dishes with a bold claim of “legendary” status for the fish and chips. Many of the ingredients are sourced locally. For those who prefer to nibble, the pub has a choice of sharing platters, including a vegetarian option, and all of the desserts are homemade, including the delicious sticky toffee pudding. Children are well fed here, with smaller versions of many of the main menu dishes available.
