Planning Your Visit
Outdoor Pool
The pool at Lazonby is open during the summer months, usually between the beginning of May and mid September. During this time it is open for public swimming sessions with a lifeguard present on Monday through Friday between 3pm and 6pm, whilst at weekends, bank holidays and school holidays the hours are extended from 12 noon until 6pm. Further sessions are held in the evenings for adults only when there is no lifeguard present and two adults must be present at all times. Like many outdoor pools in Cumbria, the pool is operated by a community led trust and staffed by volunteers, so it is best to check in advance of your visit to confirm that the pool is open.
The main pool is 17-metres long, 8-metres wide, and ranges in depth from 1-metre to 2.29-metres. It is heated to 26C. Adjacent to the main pool, there is a smaller toddler pool with a fountain. Toys and floats are also available. Sessions cost £3.50 for adults and £2.50 for children. The pool is also available for private hire for parties, etc.
Other Features
There is a kiosk selling drinks, ice creams and snacks. Around the pool there is a large grassed area with picnic benches and space for playing games. There are changing rooms, and showers that are heated via solar panels. Next to the pool, there is a campsite run by the same community group, with just 20 pitches, making it a very peaceful site.
A children’s playground with a good selection of equipment is located on land next to the pool.
