Leisure Centres in the Lake District

Most of the leisure centre facilities in Cumbria are located outside of the national park border in the various towns and cities that surround it. There are 17 centres in total with all but four of them offering swimming facilities.

Thanks to a community grant programme aimed at improving the fitness levels of residents in Cumbria, many of the facilities listed here have benefited from full or partial refurbishment in recent years, making them attractive places to visit. All have a gym, ranging in size from small spaces with a limited number of machines to vast, 100 station workout zones, and most provide fitness classes. In addition, many of the centres have some great additional features to help you stay active, including indoor and outdoor sports pitches and courts, climbing walls and bowling greens. Children are well-catered for in Cumbria’s leisure centres with soft play centres, pool side splash zones and gymnastics clubs.
