Trinity Leisure Centre
Trinity Leisure Centre is housed within the grounds of Trinity School in Carlisle, close to the city centre. The centre is jointly operated by Better (Cumbria’s main leisure centre provider) and the school, and therefore during the day when it is school term time, the centre is closed to members of the public.
The centre opens each evening and all day at weekends during term time, and in addition it is open during the school holidays. This leisure centre is small, but it also has the advantage of being quieter than other leisure facilities in the area. The centre is a ten-minute walk from Carlisle train station, and free parking is available at the centre.
Planning Your Visit
Gym
The gym at Trinity Leisure is quite small, but membership is available at a low cost of £14 per month, whilst a one off visit to the gym costs just £4.40 per session. There are 30 stations of equipment here. There are cardiovascular machines, including treadmills, cross trainers, and rowing machines, as well as resistance machines. There is also a small free weights area. The room is fully air conditioned and overhead televisions can provide entertainment.
Fitness Classes
A weekly circuits class is held in the sports hall each Tuesday evening. You need to book in advance to be confirmed a place.
Swimming Pools
Trinity Leisure Centre has a 17m long “L” shaped pool, allowing those who wish to swim in lanes and those who prefer a more casual style of swimming to swim together.
The pool has dedicated sessions in the evenings for general swimming, adults only, and swimming for people with disabilities, along with swimming lessons through the Better Swim School. During the weekends and the school holidays, the pool has Family Fun sessions, with floating toys.
Sports Hall
Trinity Leisure has a small sports hall that is available to hire for £22.50 per hour.
Features for Kids
During the school holidays the centre operates a multi-sports play scheme. You can hire the hall or the pool for a birthday party, and a bouncy castle can be provided in the hall.
