Swimming Pools

The Park Leisure Centre Pool

There are two swimming pools at the Park Leisure Centre, a traditional lane pool and a free form leisure pool.

Training Pool

The training pool is 25m long and has six lanes. It is heated to 29.5 degrees. Swimming lessons and general swimming sessions are held in this pool. The pool has a portable pool lift to enable those with restricted mobility to enter the pool with ease. The pool also offers regular National Pool Lifeguard Qualification courses.

Leisure Pool

Very popular with families, this is a free form pool with a beach entry, wave machine, a 20m long slide, and a pirate cove play area. In the play area, you will find overhead splash buckets, climbing structures, and interactive play boards. General swim sessions are held in this pool, as well as dedicated sessions for children with disabilities and parents with young babies and toddlers.

Sports

The Park Leisure Centre has a good-sized sports hall with the capacity to host up to four badminton courts. You can hire a court or the whole hall. Along with badminton you can play netball, basketball, short tennis, table tennis and five-a-side football here. You can block-book the hall if you require more than 10 sessions. Court hire for badminton, short tennis and table tennis costs £7.60 for adults, and whole hall hire costs £37.50 for an hour.

In addition, the hall is home to weekly classes for both adults and children in karate, and during the school holidays, you will find roller discos and trampolining sessions held here.

Climbing Wall

Located within the sports hall, the climbing wall is available throughout the centre’s opening times, and is 9-metres high. There are various challenges on this wall, including a 2.5m overhang. There is a second bouldering wall that is 4m high and 12m wide. You must provide your own equipment to use this facility, and it costs £4 for adults and £2.50 for children.

Features for Kids

The Park Leisure Centre is probably one of the most child friendly leisure centres in Cumbria. Along with the leisure pool and its pirate cove splash zone, there are a range of spaces and activities available for children.

Club MAX – Junior Gym

Separate from the main gym, Club MAX is a gym for 8-15 year olds with equipment specially designed for older children and teenagers. Instructors are available at all times to ensure that the children stay safe and motivated.
