The gym at Millom Recreational Centre is small, but still offers state of the art equipment from Life Fitness. This includes rowing machines, cross body trainers, and treadmills. Alongside the cardiovascular equipment, you will also find a range of resistance machines and free weights.

The centre also has a Vibrostation, a unique piece of equipment that has been used by Olympic athletes. Generating vibrations throughout your body, the machine ensures that just about every muscle you have gets stretched and worked out.

The centre also has a highly qualified personal trainer available to help you to achieve your ideal level of fitness. The first session is free, and consists of 30-minute consultation where you will be able to identify what your fitness aims are. Subsequent sessions will challenge and motivate you and will include a variety of different activities.

An induction to the gym costs £3.50 and must be booked in advance. Regular gym sessions cost £2.50. Personal training sessions cost £20.

Fitness Classes

The centre offers a huge range of fitness classes with something to suit almost everyone. Fitness Motivation, for example, is a low impact aerobics class that almost anyone can do, whilst MRC-Spin is an intense cycling class that will push you to the limit.

Other classes include High Intensity Interval Training, Total Body Workout, PIYO (combining yoga with pilates) and Boogie Bounce Xtreme, where each attendee works out on a mini trampoline to the latest chart toppers. Classes cost between £3.50 and £5 and can be attended on a one-off basis.

Millom Recreational Centre is home to a large sports hall that is available to hire. You can hire one court, half or the entire hall. The cost of hiring the hall ranges between £5.50 and £23 depending on your requirements.
