Gym

Keswick Leisure Pool & Fitness Centre Gym

The gym at Keswick is small when compared to gyms at other leisure centres in Cumbria, but still manages to offer a good range of equipment. There are cardiovascular machines including treadmills, cross trainers, exercise bikes, and rowing machines. For weight training and muscle toning, there are ten pieces of resistance and strength equipment. There is also a free weights area, along with additional accessories, such as exercise balls and mats.

The gym has fitness instructors available throughout the opening times should you require assistance. You can visit as a non-member for £6.80 per session. If you are staying in the area for a few days and want to maintain your fitness regime, the centre offers a weekly gym pass for £17.

Swimming Pools

Keswick Leisure Pool & Fitness Centre Pool

The pool at Keswick Leisure Pool and Fitness Centre is a fantastic resource for families seeking an alternative to traditional lane swimming. It is free form, and has a beach style entrance, enabling babies and toddlers to paddle in the shallow areas. At the deeper end it is possible to swim lengths, and there are early morning adult only sessions that can accommodate this.

The pool is heated to 30C, and around the shallow end, there are a variety of interactive play panels with puzzles and games for children. There is a small slide for toddlers in the shallow part of the pool, and there is a 40m high tunnel slide that plunges the user into a small separate pool at the end.

The pool has timetabled sessions each day, and on most days Splash Zone takes place between 11am and 4pm, when the wave machine is used every 30 minutes. Other sessions include toddler time, where floats and other toys are available, and Splash and Smile for families with children with disabilities. Swimming lessons are also available, and during the school holidays special disco style sessions are held for secondary aged children with lights and music. Do check the pool’s timetable before your visit to ensure that the session available at your chosen time is suitable for your needs.

Mountain Bike Hire

Keswick is located in the heart of the Lake District on the shore of Derwent Water, and therefore is a good place to start from if you want to explore the area by bike. The centre has a large collection of mountain bikes available to hire, either for half a day or a full day. There are bikes for adults and children, as well as toddler trailers, tag-a-long bikes, and electric bikes. When you hire a bike from the centre, you will also receive a voucher for a discounted swim session.

Features for Kids

In addition to the child friendly sessions available, the pool at Keswick is available to hire privately for birthday parties.

Other Features

The Waves Café is located on the poolside, so parents of older children can sit and relax with a drink and watch their children play if preferred. The café serves a selection of hot and cold food with classics, such as burgers and hot dogs, on the menu. Children’s options are available, and there is also a range of ice creams and sweet treats.
