Boasting great views of Grasmere, Elterwater, Windermere, and the Langdale Fells, Loughrigg Fell with its well-maintained paths is a great one for beginners who are looking to challenge themselves.
Explore rocky outcrops and small tarns on your route up, and pack a picnic for a lunch with a fabulous view.
The Route

Follow the path from the end of the car park that leads you towards the river and Loughrigg Terrace. Cross the river at the wooden footbridge at Grid Ref NY 347 063 and continue straight on (not left) along the path that takes you through woodland.
This is clearly signposted for Loughrigg Terrace. At Grid Ref NY 348 060, turn left onto the path known as Loughrigg Terrace. This is a well maintained gravel path with great views of Grasmere. At Grid Ref NY 342 056, turn left onto the stepped path that will take you up to the summit at Grid Ref NY 347 050.
At the top, spend some time exploring the area that has a number of hidden tarns amongst the rocks.

Parking: There is pay and display parking, complete with toilets, at White Moss Walks car park. Grid Reference NY 351 064; This is located just off the A591 between Rydal Water and Grasmere
Start Point: Grid Ref NY 351 064; A path leads from the back of the car park towards the River Rothay
Summit: Grid Ref NY 347 050; 335 metres above sea level
Distance: Approximately 2.5 miles
Terrain: A well-maintained gravel path with stepped sections
