Located in the centre of the Georgian town, Broughton-In-Furness, the 17th century Manor Arms pub has achieved several awards in recent years, including Furness CAMRA Pub of the Year 2018 and 2019. This is a traditional pub in the true sense. There is no food here, other than a few snacks, but it does offer what it describes as a “mini beer festival every day” with eight real ales available at any one time.

With cosy and relaxing interiors, the pub attracts a large crowd who simply come to enjoy a relaxed pint and catch up on all the latest “crack” (Cumbrian for gossip). Once a favourite pub of Watership Down author Richard Adams, this pub is certainly worth a visit.

This pub does not serve meals, but does offer a limited selection of snacks, such as filled bread rolls, crisps, etc. The pub is widely considered one of the best pubs in the area for real ale fans. It has eight hand pumps and serves an ever-changing selection of ales from craft breweries located around the country, which is why it has regularly been named as Pub of the Year by the local CAMRA branch.

In addition, the pub stocks real cider, again with a changing selection. Beer is clearly the king here, but other beverages are available, including a limited selection of wine, gin, whisky, and other spirits. The bar also serves tea and coffee throughout the day, and soft drinks are available.

Other Features

Broughton-In-Furness has a long history of attracting artists and writers, and the pub’s walls are adorned with artwork created by local artists. Additionally, the pub is dog friendly throughout. There is no beer garden as such, but there is some seating outside the front of the pub.
