The Rose & Crown is supplied by the Robinsons Brewery and the bar offers four real ales. Typical ales on offer include Cumbria Way, Dizzy Blonde, and Wizard. The pub has a good choice of draught beers available, including Carling and Kronenbourg 1664, as well as a selection of bottled beers from various breweries.
There is a fairly standard wine list with choices to suit most tastes, and a small selection of gins, including the Lakes Distillery Gin, that can be accompanied with premium tonic waters. You will also find the usual selection of spirits, soft drinks, and tea and coffee here.
The Menu
Food is served every day at the Rose & Crown and during peak periods it’s best to book a table in advance. Lunch is available from 11am to 3pm daily, with a wide choice of hot and cold baguettes and ciabattas, as well jacket potatoes. The main menu is also available every day from 11am to 3pm and then again from 5pm to 9pm (all day on a Sunday).
There is a good choice of pub classics, such as haddock and chips, as well as salads, steaks, and a burger menu that lets you create your perfect burger with a choice of fillings. The specials change regularly and offer a range of imaginative dishes, such as jerk chicken kebabs, and there are a limited number of dishes for vegetarians. Gluten free diets can be catered for, and the pub has a children’s menu that features the usual favourites. A traditional roast dinner is served each Sunday with a choice of two meats, with a half portion available for children.
Other Features

The Rose & Crown has a beer garden to the rear with outdoor heaters, making it suitable for use during colder weather. Dogs are welcome in selected sections of the pub, including the bar, where there are tables for dining. They are not, however, permitted in the restaurant room. Additionally, the pub hosts regular live music nights with local bands performing in the bar.
History
The Rose & Crown dates back to the 17th and throughout most of the twentieth century it was adjacent to a bakery owned by a man named Sid. A hatch linked the bakery to the pub and every day Sid would pass through freshly baked loaves of bread through the hatch, and pints of beer would be passed back to Sid in return. Once he had finished work in the bakery Sid would come to the pub to play cards. The room that he sat in was named in his memory when he passed away around 20 years ago.
