Fell Bar (Penrith)
The Fell Bar is a small, cosy, and intimate venue that can be found in the centre of Penrith amongst the shops and cafes of the town. This bar is the “tap” for the Fell Brewery, a small, independent brewery in the south of Cumbria who are focused on creating on artisan ales, usually on a seasonal basis. The bar opened in October 2017 and has become a popular venue for those seeking a quiet place to enjoy an excellent pint of ale.

This being the tap bar for the Fell Brewery it is unsurprising that the brewery’s own beers are the star of the show. There are six hand pulls available for cask ales, plus eight keg beers and various bottles and cans. Whilst the brewery has a couple of staple beers that they endeavour to produce throughout the year they take a relaxed approach to brewing, often creating brews on a whim, resulting in a changing array of ales throughout the year.
In addition to brews created by the Fell Brewery, the bar also offers a range of ales from other local craft breweries, and the blackboard behind the bar displays the full range available, complete with tasting notes to help you choose. Beer is available to take away if preferred.
Whilst the focus of the Fell Bar is clearly on beer, there is a good choice available for those prefer something different. Recognising the rising popularity of gin, the bar has a rotating collection of guest gins with various garnishes. There is a carefully selected choice of quality wines and a good range of soft drinks. Food is not served here, but a small selection of bar snacks are available.
Other Features
The bar welcomes dogs throughout the premises. The bar has a quiz night on the first and third Thursday of the month, beginning at 9pm. In addition there are occasional live music nights.
