The General Wolfe
The General Wolfe is a friendly pub in the centre of Penrith town centre. After a period of closure in 2015, it reopened following a refurbishment programme with new management. It has since flourished and is a popular place for locals to gather to watch sports, play pool or darts, or grab a bite to eat.
The pub hosts a number of events, such as party nights and charity fundraisers, throughout the year. The pub received national recognition a few years ago when an apparently ghostly apparition was caught on CCTV.
Food & Drink

The General Wolfe has two hand pulls for real ale and serves a changing selection, often sourced from local breweries. There is a good choice of draught beers, lagers, and ciders, and a reasonably priced selection of wine. The pub is continually expanding its gin selection and it serves a range of cocktails and mocktails. Hot drinks are available, including luxurious hot chocolate.
The Menu
Food is served Monday through Friday between noon and 2pm and then again between 6pm and 9pm. At the weekend, food is available all day from noon until 9pm (8pm on Sunday). The menu is packed with all the pub classics, such as steak and ale pie, scampi, and gammon.
There are lighter bites for those with smaller appetites, including combination platters with various nibbles, as well as hot baguettes, burgers, and salad bowls. Children can choose a smaller portion of one of the classic dishes. A traditional roast dinner is served each Sunday, whilst daily specials add an imaginative array of choices to the menu.
Other Features

The pub seems small from the exterior but the rooms go back along way, and at the rear of the pub there is a large back bar with a 7ft pool table that is new for 2018. In addition, there is a darts board and a games room. Both the bar rooms have flat screen televisions with a subscription to Sky Sports. The pub also has games machines and a juke box. The pub welcomes dogs throughout.
