The Kings Arms (Cartmel)
Newly refurbished in 2017, the Kings Arms in Cartmel is an elegant pub that has been delightfully decorated with natural materials and colours that create a welcoming and calming atmosphere. Despite its refurbishment, this 18th century inn has retained many period features, including open log fires, flagstone floors, and beamed ceilings.
There’s a good mixture of wooden dining furniture and cosy armchairs, as well as an outside seating area looking out onto the centre of Cartmel where you can watch the world go by. The King Arms is adjacent to the Royal Oak, another, slightly larger inn, and the two often work together on events with patrons of the Kings Arms able to make use of the excellent beer garden of the Royal Oak.
For bookings, it's best to get in touch with the pub directly on 01539536708 or send them a message via their official website.
Food & Drink
Real ale is important to the owners of the Kings Arms and being a freehouse, the pub is able to offer a selection of cask ales from various local breweries, including from Unsworth’s Yard brewery, which is just a few metres away. The wine list is limited, and the pub serves a reasonable selection of other alcoholic drinks. If you prefer hot drinks, Illy coffee is served here, and tea is also available.
The Kings Arms uses locally sourced produce wherever possible with much of the meat and dairy produce used in its dishes procured from farms around the Cartmel area. The menu changes regularly with the seasons and combines classic pub grub with bistro cuisine. Daily specials are available and there are options for special dietary requirements, including gluten free. Children can choose from a dedicated children’s menu or opt to have a smaller portion of one of the main menu dishes. Food is served daily all day from noon.
