The Mardale Inn

The Herdwick Inn (Penruddock)
The Herdwick Inn is a large country inn located in the village of Penruddock, just off the A66 in the eastern Lake District. Having changed ownership in 2018, the inn has since become a popular place to grab a bite to eat. Real ale and a wide choice of gins is available in the dog friendly bar, and there is overnight accommodation.
The Pooley Bridge Inn
The Pooley Bridge Inn is a large, but homely inn located in the village of the same name. A stone’s throw from the shore of Ullswater, the pub is extremely popular during the summer months, with a rear courtyard that includes an outdoor bar. The Crown Inn (Pooley Bridge)
The Pooley Bridge Inn is a Thwaites inn that has recently had a complete refurbishment, creating a modern bar and restaurant that benefits from a delightful roof terrace and luxury guest rooms. Food is served throughout the day, with non-residents welcome for breakfast, and the bar stocks a wide range of drinks to suit all tastes. This pub is dog friendly.
The Brotherswater Inn (Patterdale)
The Brotherswater Inn is located at the foot of the Kirkstone Pass, close to the shore of the small lake by the same name. The pub is part of a campsite and is therefore popular with campers. It serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the bar has a great selection of real ales and whiskies. Walkers and dogs are welcome here.
The Brackenrigg Inn & Brewery
The Brackenrigg Inn & Brewery serves up its own real ale alongside locally sourced food throughout the day. Booking is highly recommended as the pub does tend to attract a large crowd. Located on the A592 between Pooley Bridge and Aira Force, the pub has fantastic views of Ullswater. Filled with character, this former coaching inn welcomes dogs and families with children.
