Indoor Swimming Pools

 Indoor Swimming Pools

Swimming is a great activity for the whole family. It can keep us fit, strengthen our muscles, and is a life saving skill. In Cumbria, the lakes and sea are generally too cold for most people to take a swim (though that doesn’t stop hardy swimmers) and so indoor swimming pools offer the next best thing.

Below we take a look at all of the indoor swimming pools you'll find in the Lake District with a short summary of the amenities each provides, as well as the pricing for a one-off visit.

About Swimming Pools

Unlike hotel pools or private gyms, the pools featured here are open to the public and membership is not required. However, it is worth checking in advance of your visit, as you may find that the pool has set times for certain activities, such as adult only swimming and toddler swimming, etc., so pre-booking may be necessary. Cumbria benefits from a number of swimming pool facilities with many featuring additional services, such as gyms, climbing walls, and fitness classes.

Benefits of Swimming Pools

Swimming is a great way of getting exercise out of the wind and the rain. It is also a life-saving skill. Many of the centres listed here offer swimming lessons for all ages, in addition to leisure swimming sessions. Furthermore, some centres have facilities that will particularly appeal to children, such as water slides or paddling pools.
