Ironwerx Gym
Ironwerx Gym was established in 2013 by Keith Devlin, an award winning body builder, after his previous gym, Evolution Gym, became too popular for the space it occupied. This is a large gym housed in a warehouse on an industrial estate on the edge of Barrow-In-Furness. It is a 15-minute walk from Barrow-In-Furness train station and close to a number of shops and cafés in the area.
The gym offers good value for money with membership starting at just £20 per month with no minimum contract. In addition, both day and weekly passes available for peak and off-peak use, making this an ideal facility if you are holidaying in the area.
Planning Your Visit
Equipment
All of the equipment is housed in one large space with plenty of room to move around. For cardiovascular training you will find cross trainers, treadmills, exercise bikes, rowing machines, as well as a speedball and punchbag for those who like to work out by boxing.
As you might expect from a gym operated by a champion bodybuilder, the strength training equipment is impressive. There are plate loaded machines, presses, smith machines and a huge range of freeweights – up to a massive 100kg.
Personal Training
Keith Devlin, the owner-operator at Ironwerx has won Over 50 Mr Britain twice, and once came 4th in the Mr World competition. You can have personal training sessions with Keith for just £10 per session, which is considerably cheaper than other personal training sessions available in the area. He also offers one-to one powerlift training.
Facilities
The gym is also equipped with a wet room.
Other Features
There is an outdoor space adjacent to the gym where you can train with the free weights. There are various shops, cafés and restaurants within a ten-minute walk from the gym.
