Pulse Health and Fitness – Castle Green Hotel

Pulse Health and Fitness is a small gym and health centre that is located within the grounds of the Castle Green Hotel. The gym is open to hotel residents and members only. Day passes are not available. The hotel is located on the eastern edge of Kendal – just over a mile from Kendal train station.

The club has a variety of membership options, including membership for use of the pool only. Joining fees also apply.

Equipment

Although small, the gym is of a good size for a hotel gym. The equipment is of good quality and high specification – mostly supplied by Technogym. There are two rooms, both overlooking the pool. The cardiovascular equipment is all housed in one room with treadmills, bikes, steppers and cross trainers available – all with touch screen technology providing data as you work out.

A number of resistance machines are housed with the cardiovascular equipment, and there is a second room with additional strength training equipment. There are presses, curl and extension machines, lat machines and various benches. There is a good selection of free weights, including kettlebells, plus other accessories, such as fitness balls and step platforms.

Fitness Classes

Classes are available for gym members and hotel residents. Classes take place every day and include aerobics, Zumba, circuits, high intensity interval training, yoga, total body conditioning, pilates, whilst aqua aerobics is held in the pool.

Personal Training

There are five personal trainers available at Pulse who can provide one to one sessions for an additional charg, and they cover a range of topics, including diet, event training and general fitness. Prices start at £15.

Facilities

The club has a 12-metre long swimming pool with four lanes and a depth of 1.5 metres throughout, overlooked by the gym. The pool has dedicated swimming times for children, and one-to-one swimming lessons for both adults and children are available, costing £16.50 for each 30-minute session.

There is also a large steam room that has recently been completely refurbished.

Other Features

The Green Rooms Spa is located within the health club with a full range of treatment options available, including massages, facials, body scrubs and wraps, beauty treatments and treatments for men and expectant mothers.

Within the grounds of the hotel you will find the Greenhouse Restaurant, Bar and Lounge, serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and evening meals.
