The Health Club at Low Wood Bay
Undoubtedly one of Cumbria’s most exclusive health and fitness facilities, the Health Club at Low Wood Bay is open exclusively to members and residents of the resort. In fact, it’s so exclusive that there is a waiting list for memberships. Fully refurbished for June 2017, this health club has virtually everything you need to maintain your complete health, fitness, beauty and well-being.
The health club is located within the luxurious Low Wood Bay resort on the shore of Windermere. A membership starts at £34.95 per month. The club does not offer day passes, but you can use the facilities if you book a treatment at the spa.
Planning Your Visit
Equipment
As you might expect from an exclusive health club, the gym features state-of-the-art equipment, with around 40 stations in total. Cardiovascular machines from Star Trac have HD entertainment screens that can provide details on how your work out is progressing. There are treadmills, including treadclimbers, spinning machines with virtual work out options, cross trainers and rowers. Resistance machines include presses, benches, and extension machines. There is also a HumanSport strength training circuit that provides a plethora of exercises that can be customised to suit your needs. In addition, there is a free weights area that includes kettlebells.
Fitness Classes
The club is home to a number of classes each week, both indoors and outdoors, held in purpose-built studios. Classes are free for members and hotel guests, or you can block book and pay for six classes at a time, with prices around £25 depending on the class. Indoor classes include Pilates, aerobics, aqua aerobics, Zumba, spinning, box fit and many more. Outdoor classes include Paddlecise (on a stand up paddleboard), Nordic walking, Aqua High Intensity Interval Training (on the lake) and an outdoor bootcamp.
Personal Training
Personal training sessions are available, starting at £25. A physiotherapist is also available should you require one.
Facilities
The club is brimming with luxury facilities. There’s the 15-metre long swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and hot tub. Outdoors you will find an additional heated pool and hot tubs. The club also benefits from a squash court and beauty treatment rooms.
Other Features
The resort is home a number of restaurants and bars, including a juice bar. The resort’s location on the shore of Windermere enables it to offer a range of water sports with qualified instructors, including stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, and sailing.
