Dog Friendly Hotels in the Lake District
With all the great outdoor activities and fell walks available in the Lake District, it seems a shame to leave your best walking companion at home, so why not bring him along? There are a great number of dog-friendly hotels in the Lake District, so we've compiled some of our favourites here below. Many even offer doggy extras, like treats, beds, and bowls, to make your stay that much more pawsome!
The Daffodil Hotel & Spa - From £150
Like many hotels in the Lake District, the Daffodil Hotel welcomes dogs in a number of its guest rooms, though there is a surcharge of £15. Dogs are permitted in the bar, but not the dining room. Outside there are extensive gardens down to the lake shore where your dog can stretch their legs, with plenty of longer walking routes available nearby.
Lancrigg - From £89
Dogs are very welcome at Lancrigg and are permitted to stay in some of the rooms for an additional charge of £15 per night. Well behaved dogs may be treated to a sausage in the mornings and dogs are welcome in the Poet’s Bar where dog treats are available from the bar. There are extensive grounds around the hotel where you can exercise your dog during your stay.
The Traveller’s Rest - From £60
Dogs are welcome to stay at The Traveller’s Rest by prior arrangement. Only certain rooms are dog friendly and therefore it is essential that guests contact the hotel before they book to request to bring a dog. There is a charge of £15 per night for dogs. Dogs are also welcome in the bar and there are footpaths from the pub leading up into the fells.
Rothay Garden - From £150
Dogs are permitted to stay at the Rothay Garden hotel in a limited selection of rooms, and there is a surcharge of £25 per room applied. However, it’s worth noting that dogs are not permitted in any of the public areas (so you cannot dine in the hotel with your dog) and the hotel politely requests that dogs are not exercised in the hotel gardens.
The Grasmere Hotel - From £132
There are two dog friendly rooms available at the Grasmere Hotel but guests must contact the hotel to request to bring their dog before they book, and each room can only accommodate one small to medium dog. There is a surcharge for dogs of £10 per night. Dogs are not permitted in the lounges or the hotel restaurant.
The Lamplighter Dining Rooms - From £62
For an additional charge of £10 per stay, up to three dogs can stay with you at the Lamplighter Dining-Rooms. Your four-legged friend will be made to feel very welcome by staff, with off-cuts of meat, sausages, and bones on offer. Dogs are not permitted in the main restaurant but are allowed in the lounge and in a dedicated “doggy dining room.” The hotel is just minutes from the start of the Orrest Head walk where your pet can be walked off-lead.
Windermere Manor Hotel - From £55
Alongside service dogs and guide dogs, well behaved pet dogs are welcome to stay at the Windermere Manor Hotel where they will be sure to receive a warm welcome. Dog beds and bowls are provided in room, and in the hotel’s grounds, there is a fenced area specifically for letting dogs off lead. There is a dedicated grooming room for cleaning mucky paws and dogs are permitted in the bar, but pet dogs are not permitted in the restaurant.
Briery Wood Country House Hotel - From £79
Dogs are given a warm welcome at Briery Wood, where for an additional £20 per stay, your dog can join you on your visit. Dogs receive a bowl, blanket, and treats on arrival, and are permitted in any of the bedrooms. However, it’s worth noting that garden rooms have direct access to the hotel’s seven-acres of grounds and may be more suitable for dog owners. Dogs are permitted in the lounges, but not in the restaurant.
Rooms at the Apple Pie - From £53
Well-behaved dogs are permitted to stay at the Rooms at the Apple Pie. There are two dog friendly rooms here, both on the ground floor, and a charge of £15 per stay applies. You must not leave your dog unattended in the room at any time. Dogs are also permitted in the adjacent café, and in many other establishments in the area, whilst the nearby Jenkin Crag and surrounding woods is an excellent area for off-lead walks.
Glen Rothay - From £98
Dogs are permitted in just two of the standard rooms at Glen Rothay, and a charge of £8 per night per dog applies, with a maximum of two dogs permitted. You must contact the hotel in advance of booking to ensure you get a dog friendly room. Dogs are not allowed in the dining room but meals can be taken in the bar where dogs are welcome. There are some superb off-lead walking opportunities in the area, including around Rydal Water and Grasmere.
The Gables Guest House - From £52
The Gables Guest House in the centre of Ambleside has two dog friendly rooms. You must contact the b&b in advance of your booking if you wish to bring your dog. A charge of £10 per stay applies. Dogs must not be left in the rooms alone and are permitted in the communal areas downstairs. Dog towels are provided for muddy paws. The Gables is adjacent to a large park where your dog can take a stroll.
The Bay Horse Hotel & Restaurant - From £95
Dogs are welcome to stay at the Bay Horse Hotel near Ullswater for no additional charge. Up to two dogs are permitted per bedroom. Many of the rooms have direct access to an external, shared balcony that enables you to exit the hotel without having to go through the rest of the building that dog owners find appealing. Dogs are permitted in the bar where food can be served, but not the conservatory restaurant. There are ample dog walking opportunities in the area.
Ambleside Townhouse - From £58
Dogs are permitted to stay in some of the rooms in Lakes Lodge. This guesthouse charges £10 per pet per night and dog bowls, treats, and mats are provided. Only certain rooms accommodate dogs, so you do need to contact the B&B in advance of booking. Those rooms have a separate entrance from the rooms that do not permit dogs. Skelghyll Woods is a 15-minute walk from the guesthouse and is ideal for walking your dog off lead.
Wateredge Inn - From £88
Dogs are recognised by the Wateredge Inn as important members of the family and are therefore welcome to stay here. Guests must contact the inn in advance of booking as not all rooms can accommodate dogs. There is a charge of £15 per dog per stay, with up to two dogs per room permitted. Dogs are not permitted in the restaurant but are permitted in the bar where meals are available. Borrans Park, adjacent to the inn, is an excellent dog-walking spot.
Brathay Hall - From £45
At Brathay Hall near Ambleside, visitors are welcome to bring their dogs to stay in the Scafell Lodges and the single traveller dormitory rooms only. There is a charge of £20 per dog per stay and you must contact the hall in advance of booking if you wish to bring your dog. The hall is set within 360acres of woodland and pastures, so there is plenty of space for walks and many of the dining pubs in Ambleside welcome dogs.
Coledale Inn - From £82
The Coledale Inn is very popular with dog owners. Dogs can stay with guests in the rooms for no additional fee. Dogs are not permitted in the dining room, but they are allowed in the bar and food can be eaten here if required. There are plenty of dog walking opportunities in the area, including the fells around the Coledale Valley, the track to Force Crag Mine, and slightly further afield, Whinlatter Forest and Derwent Water.
The Borrowdale Hotel - From £130
Dogs are recognised as being important members of the family at the Borrowdale Hotel, and up to two dogs can stay in all but two of the rooms. A charge of £10 per dog per night applies, with dog beds and bowls provided if required. Dogs are welcome in the lounges and the bar, but not in the restaurant. Borrowdale is a great place for dogs, with plenty of opportunities for off lead walks, including the nearby National Trust site, Bowder Stone.
18/20 Cellar Bar, Dining & Rooms - From £60
Unlike many hotels that offer accommodation for both you and your pet pooch, at the 18/20 Cellar Bar, Dining & Rooms in Keswick it really is access all areas for your four legged friends, with dogs permitted both in the rooms and the lounge bar area. A charge of £10 applies for the first night, increasing to £15 if your stay is for two nights or more. Derwent Water is a 5-10 minute walk away with plenty of opportunities for off-lead adventures.
Stonecross Manor Hotel - From £60
Stonecross Manor welcomes dogs to stay in certain rooms only. Therefore, you must contact the hotel in advance of your booking if you wish to bring your dog. A supplementary charge of £15 per dog per night applies. Dogs are not permitted in the restaurant area, but meals can be ordered and eaten in the bar where dogs are allowed. Dogs can be walked in the hotel’s grounds, or along the nearby River Kent where there is a public footpath.
The Kings Arms Hotel - From £120
Keswick is one of the most dog friendly towns in the UK and the Kings Arms is one of many hotels in the area that permits dogs to stay with guests. Do contact the hotel in advance of your booking as dogs can only be permitted in certain rooms, and guests are limited to one dog per room. A charge of £10 per dog per night applies with dog beds and bowls available if required. Dogs are permitted in the lounge and bar.
Woodlands Hotel & Pine Lodges - From £49
Dogs are welcome to stay at the Woodlands Hotel & Pine Lodges, both in the hotel accommodation, and in a selection of the pine lodges that are available on a self-catered basis. There is a charge of £5 per dog and you will need to provide your own dog bed and bowl. Dogs are not permitted in the hotel restaurant, but are allowed in the bar, where you can opt to have your meals. Dogs must be kept on a lead in the hotel’s grounds.
The Trout Hotel - From £119
Like many Lake District hotels, the Trout Hotel in Cockermouth does allow guests to bring their dogs to stay in a selection of rooms. You must confirm with the hotel before you book that you wish to bring your dog and a charge of £15 per dog per stay will apply. However, dogs are not permitted in any public areas of the hotel. The hotel backs onto the River Derwent with a park on the other side, accessed by a footbridge near the hotel.
Netherwood Hotel and Spa - From £140
Dogs are welcome to stay at the Netherwood Hotel near Grange-Over-Sands. A charge of £5 per dog per night applies. Dog owners must contact the hotel before booking a room, as not all rooms are suitable for dogs. Dogs are permitted in most of the public areas of the hotel, except for the hotel’s restaurant. Meals can be taken in the bar. The hotel has extensive grounds where dogs can be walked, with numerous opportunities for walks in the wider area.
The Derby Arms - From £70
The Derby Arms is one of most dog friendly hotels in the area. Dogs can stay with guests for no extra charge, and dogs are also welcome in all of the public areas of the pub. Guests will need to provide their own bowls, beds, and dog towels, etc. There are some great walking opportunities in the area for your four-legged friends, including the woodlands that surround the southern end of Lake Windermere, and the vast beaches around the southern Cumbrian coast.
Crown Hotel Wetheral - From £84
The Crown Hotel Wetheral welcomes well behaved dogs to stay with guests in a number of its bedrooms. A charge of £10 per dog per night applies, and this includes a dog bed with a blanket and dog treats. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times in the hotel’s grounds, and dogs are not permitted in the restaurant but you can take your dog into the bar. A path along the nearby river offers lovely dog walking opportunities.
Crown & Mitre Hotel - From £80
The Crown & Mitre is very welcoming to dogs, and there are no extra fees for hotel residents who wish to bring their pets. Dogs are not permitted in the bar or restaurant, but room service is available, or you can arrange to have your meal in the hotel’s lobby where there are a small number of comfortable chairs with tables. Bitts Park is a ten-minute walk from the hotel and has plenty of space for dogs to enjoy some off lead time.
The Royal Hotel, Barrow - From £70
At the Royal Hotel in Barrow dogs are welcome to stay in the guest rooms free of charge, making it one of the most dog friendly hotels in the area. Guests need to provide dog beds. Dogs are also welcome in the bar area. There are limited options for dog walking in the immediate area around the hotel, but there is a beach that is just a ten-minute walk away, where dogs can be let off lead.
The Crown Inn Coniston - From £70
The Crown Inn has dedicated rooms available for visitors who wish to stay in the Lake District with their dogs. A charge of £10 per night applies and you must contact the hotel in advance before you book to ensure you are allocated a dog friendly room. Dogs are not permitted in the dining room, but guests with dogs can eat their breakfast and other meals in the lounge bar where dogs are allowed. Outside there are numerous dog walking opportunities.
Yewdale Inn - From £55
At the Yewdale Inn dogs are welcome to stay in two of the guest rooms for an additional charge of £10 per night. Since there are dedicated rooms for guests with dogs, you must contact the hotel in advance if you are planning on bringing your pet. Well behaved dogs are welcome in the pub. During the day, they can also accompany diners in the café, but are not permitted there in the evenings.
The Black Bull Inn & Hotel - From £120
Dogs are welcome at the Black Bull Inn where for just £15 per stay your four-legged friend will be given a warm welcome. Some rooms are more suited to dogs than others, so do check in advance of your booking. Dogs are welcome in the bar, but not in the dining area, and guests with dogs can eat breakfast and other meals in the bar. Dogs will be made a fuss of, and possibly sneaked a sausage or two at breakfast time!
Swinside Inn - From £99
The Swinside Inn is a very dog friendly pub. Dogs can stay in five out of six of the rooms (they are not permitted in the Causey room) and a charge of £10 per dog per visit is applied. You will need to bring your own bowl, bed, blanket, etc. Dogs are permitted in all of the public areas of the bar, including during meal times, when staff will usually offer treats. The bar even has its own dog friendly “beer!”
Skelwith Bridge Hotel - From £47
Four legged friends are greeted with open arms at the Skelwith Bridge Hotel, with the words “Dogs Welcome, People Tolerated” adorned on cushions. Dogs can stay in rooms, with a charge of £10 per dog per night applied. Treats and doggy bags are available in reception, and dogs are welcome in all areas with the exception of the restaurant, but must be kept on a lead and off furniture. In the Talbot Bar, you will even find a dog food menu!
Waterhead Hotel Ambleside - From £142
The Waterhead Hotel welcomes well behaved dogs to its premises with a charge of £20 per night applicable. Up to two dogs per room are permitted. Guests with dogs are provided with a dog bed, bowls, and treats, as well as towels especially for muddy paws. Dogs are not permitted in the restaurant, but they are permitted in the bar where breakfast is served and you can eat there throughout the day. A park is just minutes away, offering excellent off lead opportunities.
The Inn on the Lake - From £115
Dogs are recognised as being important members of the family at the Inn on the Lake in Glenridding, and there are 15 rooms that can accommodate up to two dogs. A charge of £10 per dog per night applies, and dog blankets, beds, and bowls are provided, as well as towels for muddy paws. Dogs are permitted in the Orangery (where you can eat breakfast and meals throughout the day) and in the Ramblers Bar. Outside there are large gardens with great dog walking opportunities nearby.
Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa - From £150
Dogs are welcome in the hotel, in the Willow and Hazel rooms only, and you must contact the hotel in advance of your stay if you wish to bring your pet pooch. There is a fee of £20 per night, and a maximum of two dogs per room. Your room will be provided with a dog bowl, bed, towel, and treats, as well as information about local dog friendly walks. Dogs are not permitted in the restaurant but you can take them into the bar.
Skiddaw Hotel - From £94
In keeping with the dog friendly nature of Keswick, the Skiddaw Hotel allows dogs to stay with residents with a maximum of two dogs per room. There a fee of £10 per dog per night, and you can request a dog bowl and bed for your room, plus towels are available for muddy paws. If you need to go out without your dog, staff will periodically check your room, and furthermore, dogs are welcome in the conservatory.
Lodore Falls Hotel - From £230
Lodore Falls Hotel is a very dog-friendly hotel, allowing two dogs to stay with guests. You must confirm at the time of booking that you want to bring your dog, as not all rooms are suitable for your pet pooches. A fee of £10 per dog per night applies, and includes a dog bed and bowl. Dogs are also welcome in the hotel’s library and side lounge, and the area has plenty of dog friendly walks to explore.
The Inn on the Square - From £120
Keswick is often referred to Britain’s most dog friendly town,with almost all shops, cafés, and restaurants allowing the four legged friends in. The Inn on the Square is no exception, and welcomes up to two dogs per room for an additional £10 per dog per night. A dog bed and bowl is provided, and dogs are also permitted in the two bars. Outside the hotel, you will find a hosepipe and towels for cleaning off any muddy paws.
The Halston Aparthotel - From £99
The Halston Aparthotel recognises that dogs are important travel companions, especially here in the Lake District where walking opportunities abound. Dogs are welcome at the hotel, providing you book in advance, as not every apartment is suitable for dogs. Dogs are charged at £15 per night, and this fee includes a dog bed, bowls, waste bags, and special treats for your four legged friend. Dogs are not permitted in other areas of the hotel, but there is a park within walking distance.
The George Hotel - From £86
The George Hotel is very dog friendly with 22 out of 35 rooms permitting up to two dogs to stay with guests. Dogs are charged at £10 per night per pooch, and the fee covers dog beds and dog bowls. Although dogs are not permitted in the restaurant, they are permitted in the two bars. The George does not have a garden, but Castle Park is a five-minute walk away. You must contact the hotel in advance to book your dog’s stay.
Windermere Hydro Hotel - From £75
Dog owners will be overjoyed to hear that the Windermere Hydro Hotel loves to welcome guests with dogs. The area has countless fantastic walks for you and your dog and for a small fee they can enjoy a stay in the beautiful Lakes. Guests are advised to call ahead before booking to inform the hotel that a dog will accompany you.
Waterhead Hotel Coniston - From £109
The hotel is dog friendly and has rooms specially put aside for those travelling with a canine companion. Although dogs are not allowed in the Brasserie, they are more than welcome in the lounge bar. Thanks to its location, there are numerous fantastic walks for you and your dog to enjoy, whether it is ambling along the shores of Coniston Water or hiking up one of the many invigorating fells.
Wordsworth Hotel and Spa - From £120
The Wordsworth Hotel and Spa are happy to accept guests with dogs, which makes it a popular hotel with dog lovers. However, there are only three rooms that are dog-friendly so you are advised to book early and to call ahead to ensure that one of these rooms is available. Thanks to its great location there are a host of fantastic walks for you and your dog.
The Bridge Inn - From £50
Dogs are made more than welcome by the staff and owners of the Bridge Inn. Although dogs are not allowed in the dining room for breakfast, dog owners can eat in the warm and welcoming bar with their pet and staff are happy to bring your breakfast to you.
The Ryebeck Hotel & Restaurant - From £70
Dogs are welcome at the Ryebeck Country House Hotel but only in a limited number of rooms. It is, therefore, recommended that visitors call the hotel before booking to ensure a suitable room is available. Thanks to its location, there are some wonderful places to enjoy with your canine companion.
The Pheasant Inn (Bassenthwaite) - From £115
The hotel is extremely dog friendly and there are two rooms that are perfect if you are staying with dogs. There is a small charge of £10 per night per dog and thanks to the hotel’s fantastic location there are a lot of lakeside and woodland walks to enjoy. Although dogs are not allowed in the Bistro or Fell Restaurant, they are more than welcome in the hotel’s lounges and bar.
Grange Boutique Hotel - From £100
Guests are welcome to bring their canine companions to the Grange Boutique Hotel but it is advised that they contact the hotel first. Although the hotel is situated in the centre of Grange-over-Sands, it is only a small town and there are a number of suitable places to exercise your pet nearby.
The Hare and Hounds - From £85
The Hare and Hounds is more than happy to allow guests with dogs and your canine companions can expect a friendly welcome from the hotel. Dogs are allowed in the bar area, enabling guests to dine with their dogs, and there are plenty of walks and trails in the local area for you and your dog to explore some amazing scenery.
The Gateway Kendal - From £65
Dog owners will be pleased to know that dogs are welcome at the Gateway Kendal. Because only some of the rooms in the hotel are pet friendly, guests who wish to bring their dogs are advised to telephone or email before booking to ensure one of these room are available for the duration of your stay.
The Derwentwater Hotel - From £65

Dogs are welcome at the Tebay Services Hotel and it has a number of dog friendly bedrooms. The rate for dogs is just £10 per pet per night, which includes dog bowls and special treats for your pup. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed into the hotel’s lounge or bar areas in the interest of other guests. However, dog owners will be delighted to know that there are a number of places close by to experience scenic walks and outdoor adventures with your best canine companion.
Scafell Hotel - From £140
Dog lovers will be pleased to hear that dogs are welcome at the Scafell Hotel. Dogs are allowed in all areas of the hotel although they are not allowed in the hotel's dining room. Thanks to its location at the heart of the Borrowdale Valley, there are lots of walks to enjoy in the surrounding countryside whether in the fells themselves or more relaxing strolls alongside the river.
Rusland Pool Hotel - From £75
Dogs are welcome at the Rusland Pool Hotel. 3 of the rooms at the hotel are designated as dog friendly so it is important that potential guests call up beforehand to ensure there is one available before booking. Guests can enjoy a wide range of walks in the local area with their canine companion and there are many more within a short drive away.
Royal Oak at Keswick - From £100
Dog owners will be pleased to know that dogs are welcome at the Royal Oak Keswick. Dog bowls can be supplied, as can beds. Dogs are welcome in the bar area, which means you can dine with them and although the hotel is in the centre of Keswick, it’s only a few minutes walk to a range of excellent walks and trails for you and your pup to explore.
Queen's Head Inn & Restaurant (Hawkshead) - From £98
Dogs are welcome in the hotel’s Brown Cow Cottage suite that is situated next to the inn. Perfect for a family of four or friends with dogs, dogs are also welcome in the bar and snug area but not the back lounge dining area. Thanks to its location, there is a range of fantastic walks for you and your dog to enjoy.
New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel - From £100
The New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel has a number of rooms that are allocated as dog friendly and there is a charge of £5 per night. Guests are asked not to leave dogs in their rooms alone (unless caged) but they are allowed in the private Residents Bar where you can drink and dine with them.
Grizedale Lodge - From £95
Dogs are more than welcome at Grizedale Lodge and there is a very reasonable £10 charge for each dog for each stay. Thanks to its location at the heart of the magnificent Grizedale Forest, there are a wide variety of walks for you and your canine companion to enjoy.
The Inn at Grasmere - From £120

Rothay Manor - From £81
The hotel has four dog friendly rooms, all of which have direct access to a small enclosed courtyard for your dog’s enjoyment. Dogs are not allowed into the restaurant or bar areas and the charge for their stay is very reasonable at just £15 per dog per stay.
Riverside Hotel Kendal - From £79
The hotel is one of the most dog-friendly in Cumbria with 51 of the 58 rooms being designated as pet friendly. Thanks to the hotel being situated just outside of the town-centre means that on its doorstep are a number of great walks to enjoy with your canine companion. And, with the Lake District just a few minutes drive away, you and your pup are sure to have a fun holiday together in the great outdoors.
Rickerby Grange - From £40
Rickerby Grange House does allow guests to bring their family pet. However, guests are advised that they must contact the hotel beforehand, as dogs can only be accepted by prior arrangement. The hotel’s location offers a multitude of fantastic walks your dog will love.
The Regent Hotel - From £87
Dog owners who are looking to stay at the Regent Hotel are welcome to bring their dog(s) but should call before booking to ensure that a suitable room is available. Dogs are not allowed in the restaurant but can dine with their owners in the bar. The surrounding area and gardens also offers some fabulous walks for dogs and their owners.
Overwater Hall - From £130
Dog lovers will be glad to know that dogs are more than welcome at Overwater Hall. Thanks to its location, there are countless numbers of walks and trails to enjoy with your canine companion, from lakeside ambles to more vigorous fell walks. Although the hotel is dog friendly, they’re not allowed in the bar or dining room, which means if you wish to dine in the hotel, your dogs are required to stay in the bedroom.
The Ormsgill Inn - From £60
Dogs are made welcome at the Ormsgill Inn. However, it is advisable to ring ahead before booking to ensure a suitable room is available before booking. Staff will be more than happy to advise guests on suitable areas locally to walk your pet.
Newby Bridge Hotel - From £72
The hotel is very dog friendly and its spacious grounds are perfect for lengthy walks with your best pal. The hotel is more than happy for dogs to accompany their owners whilst dining in the bar area, though they are not allowed in the restaurant. The cost per dog is just £10 per night, which ensures your pup will enjoy their very own beautiful Lakeland holiday.
Macdonald Swan Hotel - From £69
Those with dogs will be delighted to know that dogs are welcome at the hotel in their ‘Classic’ range of rooms for a small nightly fee. Reception staff are more than happy to advise on suitable dog walking areas and other local establishments that are dog friendly.
Macdonald Leeming House - From £110
The Macdonald Leeming House Hotel is happy to welcome guests with dogs. Thanks to its location on the shores of Ullswater, there are some fantastic walks and trails nearby for people to enjoy with their canine companions. A limited number of rooms are designated a dog friendly so it is recommended that people check if a dog-friendly room is available prior to booking. There is a charge of £15 per dog per night.
Langdale Chase - From £176
The Langdale Chase Hotel is run by dog lovers so dogs are more than welcome at the hotel. There is a £10 per dog per night charge and dogs are allowed throughout the hotel except the restaurant, conservatory, and bar. They are, however, welcome in the piano lounge and on the terraces. Thanks to its great location, there are also a number of places to walk your dog nearby.

There is a nightly charge per dog and all dogs receive a pack that includes treats, a toy, and dog walking information.
Hallmark Hotel Carlisle - From £67

Guests are also advised to note that the hotel is situated in the middle of a small city so there may not be a great deal of options to exercise the dog – although the Lake District National Park is only on the doorstep and provides some great walking opportunities.

The Embleton Spa Hotel is a dog friendly hotel and it has a selection of rooms that it has designated ‘dog friendly’. Guests are advised to check that one of these is available before booking. There is a grassed area at the front of the hotel where the dogs can be exercised, as well as a variety of walks and trails in the surrounding countryside.
Days Inn Kendal Killington Lake - From £42
At the Days Inn Kendal Killington Lake Hotel, guests are welcome to bring their dogs. The hotel does make a charge and currently this is £10 per pet per night stayed. Guests are asked not to bring more than three dogs with them. There are areas close by where dogs can be exercised but due to the proximity of the motorway, it is recommended all dogs be kept on a lead.

Tweedies Bar and Lodge - From £125
Dogs are welcome to stay at Tweedies Bar & Lodge and are permitted to stay in the ground floor bedrooms and mews suites. Guests have to pay a one-of fee of £25 for their canine companion and dogs should not be left alone in rooms. This is not a problem, however, as they are more than welcome to join you in the hotel's bar.

Allerdale Court Hotel - From £65
The Allerdale Court is one of the most dog friendly hotels in Cumbria. Guests can bring their dogs, who are made very welcome with doggy bowls, balls, and chews all of which are available in the room. Dogs are not allowed in the bistro but hotel staff are more than happy to set up a table in the bar or cosy back room.
