Superbly located in the centre of Keswick amongst the town’s lively shops, restaurants, and pubs, 18/20 Cellar Bar, Dining & Rooms offers simple yet stylish accommodation at a low cost alongside great food in a popular restaurant. This bed and breakfast is perfect for those simply looking for a place to hang up their boots each evening after a long day exploring the northern fells and lakes. The B&B is situated on Lake Road, a pedestrianised road that connects the town centre with Hope Park and the nearby Derwent Water. As a result, there is no parking available for guests of the B&B, but pay and display parking is available nearby.

The B&B is a 5-10 minute walk to the shore of Derwent Water and the Theatre by the Lake, whilst a walk to the ancient Castlerigg Stone Circle will take you approximately 35-40 minutes. Popular walking routes in the area include Latrigg, Cat Bells, the Coledale Horseshoe and Castle Crag. Nearby attractions include Lingholm Kitchen & Walled Garden and the Lakes Distillery.

Accommodation

18/20 Cellar Bar has just four en-suite bedrooms that are immaculately presented in a simple yet elegant and modern style. There are two double rooms and two rooms that can sleep up to four people that families will find appealing. All rooms have contemporary bathrooms with showers, heated towel rails, and complimentary toiletries.

In-room amenities include televisions, a desk, a hospitality tray that includes tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and biscuits, and complimentary Wi-Fi. It’s worth noting that some rooms are smaller than many other hotels in the area, but it’s difficult to find accommodation in the centre of Keswick at a similar rate.

Restaurants & Bars

The bar and lounge area on the ground floor has recently been refurbished and is a very popular place for visitors and local residents to dine or relax with a drink, with comfortable sofas and occasional live music. Breakfast is served here each morning, and whilst there is a limited selection for those who prefer a continental style breakfast, there is an extensive menu for cooked breakfasts, with kitchen staff happy to try and oblige if guests seek something not on the menu.

A day time menu operates until 5pm, with a good selection of wraps, baguettes, salads, and classic main dishes available. In the evenings, there is an a la carte menu featuring modern British cuisine with many ingredients sourced locally. There is also a separate steak menu.
