The Crown Inn Coniston

The Crown Inn in Coniston is one of the largest inns in the area, and offers guests an authentic English pub experience. Located in the heart of the small town of Coniston, the pub is just a ten-minute walk from the shore of Coniston Water.

The Cumbria Way runs adjacent to the pub, making it a popular place for walkers to stop and rest, and it is an ideal starting point for an ascent up the Old Man Of Coniston. Nearby attractions include Grizedale Forest and Tarn Hows, whilst Lake Windermere is just a short drive away.

Accommodation

There are twelve rooms available at the Crown Inn with a mixture of twin, double, triple, and family rooms available. You won’t find luxury here, but you will value for money. Rooms are simply decorated in a classic style, and all rooms include en-suite bathroom facilities with a selection of toiletries provided. In room amenities include televisions, free Wi-Fi, a hairdryer, and tea and coffee making facilities.

Two family rooms are available, one with one double bed and one single bed, and the second room has one double bed and two single beds. Both have showers over baths which makes them ideal for families with young children, although it should be noted that travel cots are not provided.

Restaurants & Bars

The pub is very popular with tourists and local residents, thanks in part to the huge portions of food that are available. During the day, food is served in the lounge bar, or in the separate dining room that offers a quieter atmosphere. The menu is typical for a British pub. All of the favourites are here, including fish and chips, Cumberland sausage and mash, steak and ale pie, and burgers. There are options for vegetarians and there is a separate children’s menu.

In the mornings, breakfast is served in the dining room, and alongside a cold breakfast buffet with cereals, etc., guests can choose from a cooked breakfast menu. The pub is part of the Robinson’s Brewery chain of pubs, and the bar offers a selection of award winning real ales, as well as spirits and malt whiskies. There is a large beer garden outside.

Additional Facilities & Services

The dining room is available to hire out for functions such as parties and wedding receptions for up to 50 people. Menus can be tailored to suit your needs and entertainment can be provided for an additional charge.
