Waterhead Hotel Coniston

In business for over 100 years, the Waterhead Hotel has a long and illustrious history with Victorian artist and social critic, John Ruskin, who was a regular guest, as were many of his associates, including Charles Darwin. Overlooking the spectacular Coniston Water, the 24-room hotel is known for its ‘home away from home’ feel, comfortable rooms and excellent food. Thanks to its excellent location, it makes the perfect base to explore all that the stunning Lake District National Park has to offer.

Accommodation

All of the hotel’s 24 rooms are fully en-suite and most have great views of the surrounding countryside including Coniston Water, the Old Man of Coniston and the charming Coniston village. There are a variety of rooms available, including doubles, twins and suites – all of which have been individually designed and furnished to the highest possible standards. The rooms all come with the modern facilities expected at such a high quality establishment.

Restaurant and Bar

Brasserie 21 is the hotel's restaurant and it is here that guests can enjoy hearty breakfasts and fabulous three-course dinners. The food on offer is of an excellent standard and the hotel is popular with guests, locals, and visitors. There is a lounge bar too that serves a wide range of drinks, including the famous local beer Bluebird Ale. Afternoon tea is served on a daily basis and, on those summer days, the hotel’s lawn, which runs all the way down to Coniston Water, is a great place to enjoy a picnic.

The Waterhead Hotel makes a fantastic venue for weddings not only because of its excellent facilities but also because it has its own private jetty on Coniston Water that makes a wonderful backdrop for your special day.
