Glenburn Hotel & Restaurant
The Glenburn Hotel & Restaurant is a delightfully presented accommodation housed in an elegant Edwardian property that is conveniently located half way between the town centres of Windermere and Bowness-On-Windermere. The current proprietors have owned and managed the property as a family business since 2008, and during this period they have undertaken a full, high quality refurbishment of the entire property.
The hotel now offers 16 rooms available on a bed and breakfast or half board basis with a delightful restaurant open for evening service only. The hotel is within walking distance of Lake Windermere and there are a number of popular attractions that are within a 30-minute drive including Dove Cottage, the pretty village of Grasmere, and Brockhole, the Lake District National Park Authority’s fabulously equipped visitor centre.

All rooms have en-suite bathrooms with complimentary toiletries and some of the deluxe / premier rooms benefit from spa baths and rainforest showers. These rooms also offer additional space and some include four poster beds. If you are travelling as a larger family or group, you may wish to consider the hotel’s self catered property, River Cottage. The cottage is located within the grounds of Glenburn and overlooks a small stream. The cottage has two double rooms and one room with bunk beds. There is an open plan lounge / dining room, a small but fully equipped kitchen, and two bathrooms. There is also a balcony and a patio area with a BBQ.
Restaurants & Bars
The Glenburn has a small restaurant where hotel guests can enjoy breakfast each morning, with a selection of hot and cold items available. In the evenings, the restaurant serves a three course menu with a selection of classic British dishes that use the very best of local Lake District produce. A children’s menu is also available. Dietary requirements can be catered for but the restaurant does request that if you require something other than vegetarian or vegan that you provide 48-hours notice. There is also a small lounge bar with comfortable seating.
Additional Facilities & Services
It is possible to hire the entire hotel for a private function for up to 36 guests, and catering can be arranged. Various extras can be ordered for your arrival to make your break a bit more special, such as a bouquet of fresh flowers, handmade chocolates, champagne, a beauty bag packed with essentials, or a day tour of the Lakes.
The hotel has an arrangement with the Burnside Hotel in Bowness-On-Windermere, a mile away from the Glenburn. Guests of the Glenburn can enjoy complimentary use of the Burnside’s spa facilities that include a gym, pool, sauna, steam room, and a bar. Treatments must be booked and paid for separately.
