Shakespeare Inn Outside

If you don’t like to stay in pub accommodation because of the associated noise, then you might be tempted to dismiss the Shakespeare Inn in Kendal altogether. However, it’s worth noting that this pub’s accommodation is located in a separate converted cottage behind the pub, and as a result, the noise typically associated with a lively bar is less of an issue.

The Shakespeare Inn is right in the centre of Kendal with the added benefit of free parking. Kendal’s key attractions, such as the Abbot Hall Gallery and the Brewery Arts Centre, are just a few minutes away on foot. Further afield, Bowness-on-Windermere is a 20-minute drive, whilst a trip to Grasmere will take you around 40-minutes in the car.

Accommodation

The Shakespeare Inn has four rooms available, all located in a building behind the pub, across a private courtyard. As a nod to the hotel’s name, all rooms are named after Shakespearian characters. All rooms are simply decorated in a classic style, with artwork from some of Shakespeare’s plays.

Firstly, there is Oberon, which is a spacious double room with an en-suite bathroom fitted with a walk-in shower and benefits from its own front door that opens out onto the courtyard. Titania is a smaller double room, again with an en-suite bathroom and a walk-in shower. Helena is a spacious twin room that has an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower over a bath. Lysander is a large family room fitted with a double bed, a single bed, and a bathroom with a shower over a bath. All rooms include flat screen televisions with digital channels, free Wi-Fi, and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities.
