The Log House
Located in Ambleside along the main road down to Lake Windermere, this unique building was originally imported all the way from Norway at the start of the 20th century. Landscape artist, Alfred Heaton Cooper, spent a number of years in Norway painting the fjords before relocating back to the UK and eventually the Lake District in a bid to make his fortune from his work. The property has since been renovated, giving it a more modern feel with nine guest rooms available to rent.
The Waterhead jetty for the Windermere Lakes Cruises is a 10-minute walk and boats from here will take you to numerous attractions and popular walking spots in the area, including Wray Castle, Brockhole and Claife Heights.
