Lakeside Hotel & Spa

Newby Bridge, Ulverston, LA12 8AT
Lakeside Hotel & Spa Outside

Don’t let the Ulverston postal address fool you, the Lakeside Hotel has an enviable location on the shores of southern Windermere. It is just 15-minutes from the M6, and minutes from the Lakes Aquarium and the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway. Just a short walk along the shore from the hotel you will find a jetty for the Windermere Lakes Cruises that will take you to Ambleside or Bowness, and the adventure forest of Grizedale is just slightly further afield.

An inn has stood at this location since the 17th century, and today, the original building remains, but has been extended considerably. Inside you will find traditional country style furnishings that create a warm and inviting atmosphere, combined with all of the modern comforts you might expect from a four-star hotel, including a delightful health club.

Restaurants & Bars

Breakfast is served from 6.30am until 11am weekdays and 11.30am weekends, so there is no need to rush. You can opt for the cold buffet or select something from the extensive menu that not only includes traditional English breakfasts, but more contemporary options, such as pancakes with bananas and bacon.

At other times of the day, there are three venues available for dining. In the Lakeview Restaurant, you can enjoy rare breed steak within a formal dining experience. At the John Ruskin’s Brasserie, you can relax with classic brasserie dishes that include locally sourced produce. In the Conservatory & Terrace, you can enjoy a light lunch or afternoon tea with views of the lake. The hotel has an extensive wine list that can be enjoyed in any of the dining venues and in the lounge bars.

Additional Facilities & Services

Failing to check out the Aveda spa facilities during your Lakeside Hotel stay would be a great tragedy. The spa offers a full range of spa treatments, such as massages, facials, manicures, and pedicures. Spa days are available, and you can opt for packages from £199 per person that include a spa treatment, accommodation, breakfast, and an evening meal.

The spa is fitted with a stunning 17m pool that overlooks Windermere with floor-to-ceiling windows giving breath-taking views of the lake. There are loungers around the pool and a hot tub at one end, as well as a steam room and sauna. The hotel also has extensive conference and celebration facilities, with packages available that enable you to book out the entire hotel if required.
