Briery Wood Country House Hotel

Brimming with old word charm and sophistication, the Briery Wood Country House Hotel is a delightful hideaway close to the shore of Lake Windermere that benefits from an award winning restaurant. The hotel is two-miles south of Ambleside, along the road that leads to the town of Windermere, and is set within seven-acres of beautifully maintained gardens and woodland that lead down to the edge of the lake.

Accommodation

The 23 rooms at the Briery Wood Country House Hotel are presented in a classic style with richly coloured fabrics and elegant furnishings. All of the rooms have en-suite bathrooms, with deep baths for a long and indulgent soak that include overhead showers. Luxury toiletries are provided. In rooms amenities include free Wi-Fi, a flat screen television, a hairdryer, and a hospitality tray that includes biscuits.

In addition to standard “House” rooms, there are family rooms that can sleep up to four people (with one double bed and two pull out single beds), garden rooms with direct access to the hotel’s gardens, and superior rooms that are generously sized and include a comfortable seating area.

Restaurants & Bars

The restaurant at Briery Wood has been awarded an AA rosette and serves a mixture of contemporary and classic dishes that use the very best of local and seasonal produce. The restaurant celebrates Cumbria, with favourites such as Herdwick lamb, Cumberland sausage, and Morecambe Bay shrimps on the menu.

Light lunches and early evening main dishes are available in the bar where you will also find open fires and a great selection of local ales, wines, and whiskeys. Breakfast is available for hotel guests with cooked items available to order alongside a selection of pastries, cereals, yoghurts, fruits and more. In the afternoon for around £20, guests can treat themselves to a scrumptious afternoon tea.

Additional Facilities & Services

Briery Wood can host weddings for up to 84 day guests with a civil ceremony included. There is a special Lakeland package that celebrates the best of Cumbrian produce on the menu, and includes treats, such as Grasmere Gingerbread favours.
