Accommodation
The Grand at Grasmere consists of two buildings. Most of the bedrooms can be found in the main building, and whilst all of the rooms are decorated in a modern and sophisticated style, in the main building the period nature of the building means that no two rooms are exactly the same. All rooms benefit from extremely comfortable Sealy beds with Egyptian cotton, tea and coffee making facilities, an en-suite with a shower, complimentary luxury toiletries, a television, and free Wi-Fi.
Alongside Classic rooms, the main building also houses Fell or Lake view rooms which, as the name implies, have delightful views and upgraded amenities, such as bathrobes and a Nespresso machine. The main building also houses one Lake View room with its own balcony and air-conditioning.
Across the lawn from the main building, additional rooms can be found in the Lodge. These are enhanced rooms that offer additional space, as well as upgraded amenities. The Superior Lodge rooms also include doors out to a private terrace that overlooks the gardens and can be adapted to accommodate up to two children.
Restaurants & Bars
The Café Grand is a light and relaxing space with floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over the gardens and towards the lake. During the summer, guests can also sit out on the terrace for al fresco dining. Breakfast is served each morning between 8am and 10.30am, so you can enjoy a late breakfast if you prefer. Along with a continental buffet, the restaurant offers a full cooked breakfast, as well as a wide choice of egg dishes.
Lunch is available daily between 12pm and 5.30pm with various sandwiches, sharing boards, and main dishes available. Evening meals are served from 5.30pm until 9pm. The internationally inspired menu features a wide range of dishes, including Cumbrian lamb and the restaurant’s chefs use locally sourced and seasonal produce wherever possible. The restaurant’s open plan set up means that diners can watch their food being prepared in the kitchen.
The hotel’s sophisticated bar has a fine selection of beverages, including over 30 varieties of wine, and around a dozen different gins, as well as an impressive choice of whiskies and brandies.
Additional Facilities & Services
The hotel has two comfortable lounges with real fires that are for the sole use of hotel guests. The hotel also benefits from a boot room where wet walking gear can be dried out and stored securely.
Along with the lawned gardens, the hotel has created a kitchen garden in a space that was once a derelict outdoor pool. In the summer, there is a powerful aroma of herbs and guests are welcome to sit out here with a drink from the bar.
