Lake House, Ambleside

Just a stone’s throw from the northern shore of Lake Windermere, Lake House is a delightful family run guest accommodation housed in a country mansion with elegant bedrooms and a cosy bar. Lake House is just a few minutes’ stroll from the Waterhead Pier where you can hop aboard a Windermere Lakes Cruise. The centre of Ambleside is a 15-minute walk away. Nearby attractions include Dove Cottage and Wray Castle. Lake House is an excellent base for walkers, with a number of popular walking routes in the area that include Stockghyll Force and Rydal Caves.

Accommodation

There are 19 rooms at Lake House, beautifully styled with rich fabrics and elegant furnishings that create a sophisticated yet welcoming appearance. All rooms have en-suite facilities with many that include showers over baths. Complimentary toiletries are provided, and other in-room amenities include a hospitality tray with tea and coffee, a television with a DVD player (DVDs are available to borrow free of charge), and ironing facilities.

Standard double and twin rooms are available. Superior rooms are larger and include additional extras, such as bottled water and Kendal Mint Cake. Many of the rooms have views of Lake Windermere or of the surrounding fells.

Restaurants & Bars

Lake House is a bed and breakfast style accommodation, and therefore breakfast is provided each morning in the bright dining room. A full selection of cooked items is available to order, along with continental style options. Addtionally, if you are heading out for a day on the fells and wish to take a packed lunch, the staff will prepare one for you providing you order in advance.

Whilst there is no restaurant, Lake House has partnered up with the nearby Regent Hotel to offer all guests a 10% discount on evening meals. Alternatively, Ambleside has a wonderful mix of restaurants and pubs to explore. There is also a small bar that serves a selection of bottled beers and wines, and these can be enjoyed either in your room or in the lounge area.

Additional Facilities & Services

The guesthouse will provide Champagne, flowers, or chocolates to have delivered to your room during your stay for an additional charge. Additionally, the dining room can be hired for special celebratory events with catering provided if required.
