The Daffodil Hotel & Spa
What sets the Daffodil Hotel & Spa apart from its Grasmere rivals is its enviable location on the shore of Grasmere lake, a position that no other hotel is able to claim. The result is lake views for many of the bedrooms and restaurant, with beautiful manicured gardens that stretch down to the shore.
Set on the A591, the hotel’s location gives easy access to Keswick in the north and Windermere in the south, whilst Grasmere’s delightful mix of cafés, gift shops, and historical buildings are just a short stroll away.

Accommodation
Despite its traditional Lake District slate and stone exterior, the Daffodil Hotel was built in 2012, a rebuild of a former Victorian hotel that occupied the same site. As a result, the accommodation is presented in a modern, chic style, and unusually for the Lake District, rooms feature air-conditioning. Rooms are spacious with king size beds and en suite shower rooms.
Standard in-room amenities include a large flat screen television with a multimedia panel enabling guests to connect their own streaming devices, a safe large enough for laptops, Molton Brown toiletries, and a hospitality tray that includes tea, coffee, and filtered water. Room service is available at this hotel.
Standard rooms are available with either lake or valley views. Upgrade to a Junior or Senior Suite for additional space with a comfortable seating area and enhanced amenities such as larger televisions and an improved choice of toiletries. Senior Suites also benefit from a double walk in shower and separate bath.
For the ultimate indulgent break, check into the Molton Brown suite. Inspired by the fragrance brand this unique suite features bold décor, with both the bedroom and lounge having their own Juliette balconies providing views of the Grasmere valley, along with a huge bathroom with a rainforest shower. Guests staying in this suite receive a cocktail on arrival, chocolates in the room, and a Molton Brown gift to take home.
Restaurants & Bars
With stunning views of the lake and walls adorned with digital prints of photographs from the National Portrait Gallery’s collection, the hotel’s restaurant provides a sophisticated space to enjoy a delicious evening meal. The evening menu features modern British favourites such as steak and seafood platters. An all day menu is available in the chic lounge bar, with favourites, such as stone baked pizza, burgers, sandwiches, and various light bites.
Guests at the hotel are spoilt for choice when it comes to breakfast, with a full continental range, along with cooked options that include local free range eggs and Lake District sausages, plus a choice of fish dishes. For an extra special sweet treat, the hotel’s afternoon tea is almost too pretty to eat, offering a beautifully presented array of sandwiches, savoury and sweet tarts, cakes, and puddings, with a lighter option available.
The bar serves a fantastic range of drinks, with wines from around the world, an imaginative selection of cocktails, and a wide choice of spirits including those from the local Lakes Distillery. Beer drinkers are well catered for, with bottled and draught options, including a fine selection from local breweries.
Additional Facilities & Services
The Daffodil is home to a sumptuous spa that is available to guests, as well as day spa users. The spa is fitted with a large thermal pool. Much larger than a hot tub, the pool is fitted with a series of jets that target different areas of the body to help revive sore muscles.
There is a spacious sauna and steam room, and for guests who receive treatments there is the option to relax in the tepidarium after therapy. The spa has five treatment rooms and offers a full range of treatments using products from European skincare house Germaine de Capuccini. Treatments available include massage rituals from around the world, mud rasul therapies, plus beauty and grooming treatments.
The hotel is licenced for civil weddings and has a variety of packages available, with the option to have the ceremony outside on the lake shore if desired. The hotel can accommodate up to 250 wedding guests. The Daffodil is also able to host conferences with various delegate packages available. The hotel permits dogs in some rooms and additional charges apply.
