Unlike some of the larger corporate hotels, there is a real friendly family feel to the Virginia House and guests can expect crisp white linen, clean and fluffy towels, as well as full en-suite facilities.

Restaurant and Bar

The owners of Virginia House are very proud of their restaurant and it is easy to see why. Offering all a warm welcome and good food in its stylish surroundings, it is popular with guests and locals alike. Chef-patron, Craig Sherrington, is a classically trained chef and has a wealth of Michelin Star kitchen experience working with chefs, such as Le Champignon Sauvage’s David Everitt-Matthias and Eric Chavot of Brasserie Chavot in London’s West End. Using only the best local ingredients where possible, there is nowhere better to eat in the area.

The hotel is also host to a fabulous gin parlour which must be the only one in Cumbria and one of only a handful in the north. It has a fantastic range of over 60 gins, as well as a wide range of other drinks and is a delight to spend time in.
